Are there times you don't trust God to know who He ought to bring to Christ or that He might overlook certain people because you didn't pray?

No, but if that should be our mentality then why pray to ask Him for anything at all? As I’ve already shown, Paul obviously thought it was beneficial to pray for someone’s salvation.

I’m not sure I understand your point. Do you think that your prayers cause God to do something He would not have done had you not prayed?

I wouldn’t say cause but He may not grant things we desire if we don’t ask.

because not all of our prayers are granted. So I think the cause is God deciding to grant our request not the request itself.
