God given talent and direction...

If you happen to be blessed with an exceptional talent for something, say filmaking, is that an indication that God wants you to follow that path or is it a talent and nothing more? I can think of many ways that I might be able to get out the word of God in subtle and not subtle ways through film, but how can I be sure that it is the direction God wants me to take? I know that praying about this would help, and I have, but I've been unable to come to any clear conclusions.

Proverbs says, "A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before kings."

If you a certain gift, there will be a place for you in that field.

I think the world could use more Christian film-makers, if you can stay strong and not become corrupted with fame and worldly living.

thanks lamb. I'm fairly convinced that this is what God wants me to do with my life and so I shall. Some people who I've talked to about it have said that it would be a mistake since no one wants religion shoved down their throat, but I don't intend to do that. I intend to get the word of God into the consciousness (or subconscious) of those who might never otherwise be exposed to him. Through retellings of the stories and concepts found within the bible, I hope that I might be able to reach those with hardedned hearts as mine was not too long ago. God truly has blessed me with this talent, and I can see myself reaching the world with my films. Now it's just a matter of walking the walk...it all starts with a step.

I'd say just explore your world Allie. Go into uncharted territory as often as possible and you're bound to find your treasure.

talk to God about it (Ie pray) and be patient. I can personally testify God answers prayers.

I can totally relate Allie! I used to be the same way. What finally changed everything for me, was accepting the fact that I'm unique. I'm not like everybody else...I'm not like anybody else...I'm me, and I'm the best me that there could ever possibly be!

Aww I TOTALLY hear you. I am very much this way too. I have prayed as well, and its like "God, just have me be what YOU want me to be" and still I hang.
See, I think I could go into several things, but I don't know yet.

Do whatever there is to do in front of you. God put it there so you would see it and get it done!

An ability and an opportunity to do a good work should be considered a call to do it!
