Last week, on Wednesday, my mom went into surgery. It was a low-risk surgery, and she is fine. She is sore, but recovering.
Now, on Wednesday, my dad went to the hospital with her, and I stayed with my seven year old sister. To take her mind off the surgery, we went out to the bookstore. A local Borders. I did not NEED to go to Borders for anything. I did not go there specifically to look at any religious books. In fact, I was shopping for graphic novels.
But, nonetheless, I found myself browsing the religious section. I didn't end up buying anything from it, but I did look at a book called "God Calling" (I think, can't remember exact title). When I picked it up, I did not know exactly what it was. I opened it up to see that it was a daily sort of book. For each day, there was a question, a statement, or a Bible verse, followed by a response from God.
Now, I have been struggling with my path in life recently. I am always wondering if I am truly doing what I am supposed to be doing. So, imagine my surprise when I decide to open the book up to that very day, to read something along the lines of...
"September 17: Show us thy way, O Lord, so that we may walk in it.
You are doing so. The way of faltering steps and uncertain futures, it is my way. Cast all fear of the future aside. Know that you will be lead. Know that you will be shown. I have promised."
Now, this could be written off as coincidence, but when I took into consideration that I didn't HAVE to go to the bookstore for anything, and that I didn't have religious books in mind when I went there, I really felt that God lead me to that book, to read that day's statement and response.
