  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

my brother left two weeks ago to prepare to go to Iraq for active duty. he is in the seabees. i was wondering if there were any other seabee families out there on this board who might care to talk. it's just really hard on our family to let him go and sometimes there is comfort in numbers.
thank you
(if this is not appropriate for this forum, i apologize.)

This is the perfect forum for this. I am not a seebee, but we have a seebee outpost on the back of our AF base. These guys are some of the bravest and have shown their meddle in many conflicts, building amist unsecured combat areas. I pray that your brother is kept safe, that he does his job well and promotes the peace that is the military's product and helps to bring Iraqis to Christ.

thank you so much for responding daveleau. that is exactly what he is doing. although he can't (and won't) tell us everything, it has something to do with the fire strikes in northern iraq, and because of his civilian training and work, he will be of great worth.
but he is of no greater worth to anyone else than he is to us. however he and all the other brave men and women fit into the design for God's plan, i hope the end result is some kind of peace.
before he left, he asked us not to read the counts of what goes on over there in the papers or listen to the news. (he jokingly said he didn't)
this is, of course, impossible. i wish it weren't. but it is very difficult to learn more about this particular situation over there. if anyone knows more, or knows of a place on the internet where we can keep up more, would you please share it, so we don't feel so helpless? we would be ever grateful.

still, if no one else reads this, it is the great comfort i hoped it would be hearing from at least one person.
God bless you, daveleau. God bless you.
:)

they are the unsung heros of the military. they are the ones who didntdrop the bombs of ww2 but the built the runways oto do it. they are the ones who built the bridge to continue the push forward. and when the fighting is over they are the ones that help civilian lives in a ravaged area return to normal by building schools.
