  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God asks you to develop a specific adaptation, mutate?

Hi there,

So maybe we can force God into the equation here. By my reckoning, if Evolution was true, He could ask you to adapt something. It wouldn't have to show up in your generation necessarily, but it would obviously be something that would save mankind. What would you do? Mutate?

Is that how you handle requests from God?

Please tell us you are not that crazy.:p:cool::cool:

Wait, so God can't ask you to adapt? Is that it?

That's something God can't say?

I would assume God has the power to adapt you, in this situation.

I suppose he could ask you how you want to be adapted. However, since people don't have the ability to modify their DNA upon request, it is not that God couldn't say it, just that you don't have the ability to do as he asks.

Hmmm ok, so then we could say, that in this... situation... God could possibly ask you what you would like to be evolved in the next generation, or the beginnings of an evolution next gen, then we could give him ideas of what we would like... THEN God can "Make it so"

Plausible, in the realm of fantasy.

Just operating under the premise of the argument, in which we are going to "force" God into the equation.

Which I guess begs the question: how do we "force" God to do anything?

Maybe you could tell us more about your theory that persons mutate, and that they are able to do that purposefully. I have never heard of that theory - it sounds a little wild, but interesting.

If he has one, I would love to hear it. It may explain what he thinks evolution is.

Hi there,

So maybe we can force God into the equation here.

If you think you have the power to "force" God to do anything, perhaps people should be praying to you, instead?

By my reckoning, if Evolution was true, He could ask you to adapt something. It wouldn't have to show up in your generation necessarily, but it would obviously be something that would save mankind. What would you do? Mutate?

I'm going to mutate regardless of whether or not God asks me to... not exactly a tall order.

Is that how you handle requests from God?

I only handle requests from God that are properly filled out in triplicate, stamped, notarized, and filed in a timely fashion.

Please tell us you are not that crazy.:p:cool::cool:

Well, we're certainly not this crazy... don't know about that.

Oh, Hi gott, I see you are posting about evolution. Before we continue, a few reminders about what evolution is and isn't. These should all look familiar, because you've been told them before. Many, many times.

1. Evolution is the change in allele frequency in a population over time.
2. We don't choose to, or not to, evolve
3. Populations evolve, people don't.
4. Evolution is a description of real world events, not a theory of morality.
5. There is no such thing as "completely evolved." Evolution is a process, not an end point.
6. All modern day creatures have been evolving for the same amount of time.
7. Non living things don't evolve
8. "Belief" is not a genetic trait. Belief does not evolve in the biological sense.
9. We do not expect all populations to solve all problems in the exact same way. (ex. The fact that birds evolved wings does not mean we expect all creatures to evolve wings)

Now that we've got that out of the way, let me read your post. I have not read your post prior to this point, but at this point, we are all used to the same strawmen you always go back to. Things that are wrong will be marked in red:

Actually the rate of mutation is controlled by the release of chemicals which regulate the excitability of the individual organism. If heightened excitability is sustained for prolonged periods of time, all processes within the organism operate at peak and more mutations develop, increasingly so, the more excitable an organism becomes. This is just a function of evolution + speed.

So contrary to your owning of the sum total possible responses to evolution that fly in the face of unreason, you have made a mistake.

Let's assume all of that is completely true. What part of that is the organisms choice?
