  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Over the past few years, I have been trying to seek God. This has consisted of reading the Bible and praying. I pray and it seems like my prayers go unanswered. For example, I had an exam and prayed I would do well, however, it seemed like that prayer went unanswered... like most of my prayers. Does God not care about me? I have struggled most of my life and have been set back by horrible events in my life. I am trying to do what I can to better my life and put myself in a place where I want to be. However, I feel the effort I put in is meaningless and God does not care. By the way, most of this is about school.

In what ways does God answer prayers?
What are some examples of God answering prayers?
Why does he respond with no sometimes?
Am I having a one sided conversation with God?

*I do want to add that I am thankful that for being in school.

God answers prayers in many ways and sometimes that answer is no. For example, if you didn't prepare well for the exam, He's not going to divinely pass it for you. He very much loves us all, but He isn't a magician or good luck charm. He knows what is best for us. One example in my life was a relationship that I just knew was perfect, he was the ONE for me. I prayed and prayed that things would work out and they didn't, which at the time devastated me. Now, I am married to a wonderful man whom I truly feel God meant for me to have. It's kinda like temporary pain for long-term gain. You and I can't see the big picture or know where life will take us, but He does. I believe that He says no sometimes because of that. What we want may not be our best or what's best for us. Keep praying and keep reading!

I will realize God will not miraculously help me pass an exam if I did not prepare for it. I think I worded my question poorly. What I want to know is if prayers do anything. Is the purpose of prayer solely to ask for forgiveness? Or does He consider my requests? If my requests, such as asking to do well on an exam are not received well, should I think of all my accomplishments in school as my own work and not His? Moreover, are my accomplishments in my life due to God or myself? Does God ever answer prayers?

You are not the only one who wants to know such a common question about our one and only true God, who has sent his son Jesus to save the world from the confusing deception of Satan's wonderful bag of dirty tricks that have and will continue to create destruction and failure in human lives since Adam and Eve took a bite of God's precious forbidden apple way back when some several thousand years ago.:*:. God obviously would not reply in person after what Adam and Eve did was a serious no-no, and now we - the innocent - have to suffer the consequences of what seems like harmless action from that apple-biting unexpected serious punishment from God. To make matters worse, Satan is let loose on our planet, enjoying his spiritual power of sinful deception where poverty, violence, crime and war seem to go on forever. I feel fortunate to live and work in the big city here in Auckland, New Zealand where war and violence are not knocking on our front door for a nasty invitation surprise experience. I pray that Obama and leaders of nations keep in touch to create this friendly non-military presence where the peace of Jesus more that the peace of mankind can keep feelings of anger relaxed, knowing that the destructive power of mother nature, such as an earthquake or flood, can be far worse than the military power of one huge nation such as China or United States - where saving lives in a rescue mission with little manpower can be worrying at times. That's why the co-operation of United States is so needed in this time of economic survival. I believe if you going to succeed in exams is to borrow ideas from others or create new ones to learn the secrets of success. If Jesus lives through other Christians then their experiences can be shared with you because we are learners and leaders at the same time with the supernatural healing power of Jesus, who wants us to be fearless giants in our global community, where peace is so strong a force with Jesus besides mankind. I recommend Ipad 2 or a portable computer such as a netbook to create some kind of entertainment while learning your lessons, such as listening to classical or some other relaxing music to make learning enjoyable.:*:. Eating certain healthy foods can also increase intelligence and mental alertness, and I often Google-search to increase my mind power ability, where my performance has increased as time goes by, and where collecting the unemployment benefit will never happen in my life as time moves forward. May you find what you will seek as Jesus is with all of us faithful Christians.:*:.

And the winner of the most off-topic post is...

85 you have to realize that when God answers a prayer (be it yes, no, or wait) it's in line with his will. Sometimes it takes a while (even years) to realize a prayer has been answered. Sometimes he doesn't answer with a big glowing neon sign. That said, as a child of God, your prayers are always heard.

It all depends on the mindset. Howbeit not biblical, some folks believe God helps those who help themselves. Some folks believe God does not answer prayers, he provides opportunities. It is up to the individual to recognize the opportunity. But often times, our vision could be clouded with various religious beliefs that God may not have anything to do with.
