  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all!

I have heard a few if not many theistic evolutionists say that if the universe is young then God is a deceiver and a liar. So I ask this: when God comes and if He says the world is only 6k years old, will you call God a liar and a deceiver because He did not fit in your interpretation of the age of the earth?

Same question to the young earth creationists. If God comes and says the earth is 4.6 billion years old, will you call God a liar and a deceiver because it does not fit with your interpretation of Genesis?

I am a young earth creationist, and I would never call God a liar or a deceiver if He did not do what I have thought or believed He did. I would conclude that I have deceived myself.

I only ask because I have seen many who think the earth is old and say if it is young then God is a liar and a deceiver. These are Christians who are saying this. It really does trouble me to think that if we are wrong in our understanding then we will blame God and call Him names for it.

God Bless

YOu make an excellent point. I wish that all of us would show when posting that we are speaking of our belief, rather than telling others how they do not trust the Bible or that they are ignoring what the earth actually shows. Typically, when we begin with those statements, the response will be along the lines of what you are saying. I have seen this from both sides--the statement that God is a deceiver from one side, and amazingly from the other that a God who used evolution would be useless.
Go figure. My God is still God and still Good regardless of how right or wrong I am in my beliefs of creation.
