Check out Edredge's "Journey of Desire". He has a chunk in there about heaven that I really appreciated.

CS Lewis also had some things to say, but I'm not sure of a reference off the top of my head (maybe someone else has one).

Basically, we have this concept of heaving being us sitting around on clouds all day singing and playing harps... and this concept is completely wrong. Our God is not a God of boredom or even tranquility. He is a God of adventure and creativity, so surely those things will be a part of our life in heaven. Eldredge believes that we will get to do all the good things that we wanted to do on earth but couldn't... or at least couldn't do them to their fullest, richest capacity. Art, music, knowledge of the universe, etc.

Suffering will no longer be necessary because we will be perfected and completed.

Think about the happiest you've ever been, and think of that feeling just escalating, eternally.
Seeing the Face of God is an experience we cannot begin to imagine. Therefore we cannot really answer this question until we have seen God in His glory.

Hi there!

I'm encouraged. You said, "after we goes to heaven".... are you considering Christianity? Wow... that would great... to see you in the next life....

You see, and in answer to your querstion.... I don't think we will ever get tired of meeting souls in heaven.... People from throughout the ages who have committed to Christianity. I don't think we will ever tired of praising God and, imagine, hearing the choirs of heaven sing... and the resounding chants of the angels to add to the harmony. If we do get "bored", the Word of God tells us that we will still be servants in heaven, so even though we will be in the next life, and in a new kind of body, God's still going to give us more work to do in His service. But, imagine meeting Paul, or John, or Mark, or Matthew and hearing them the great stories of their faith.... imagine meeting your christian ancestors who have already "passed over"...

I'm so encouraged... thanks for posting.

Hello All!
Many things will occur, one we will reign with Christ for 1000 years on earth this will be a great time were we get to see His face and praise Him. Yet, all will not be well outside of the kingdom after the 1000 years "Christ will rule stricley with a rod of iron" (Rev.19:15) and this then sets the wayfor the eternal state (a new body and everything). In short we are clothed in white robs and we are to give an account of ALL of our sin God Himself will weigh everything we have ever done if it stands against the fire it is put over we will be rewared. but if they burn (you did things purely for yourself) you miss out or don't get that reward (and no one will be jealous of anothers reward because we will be free of sin) In Heaven everyone will be asigned a job but it will be a joyous job one that we were made for, we will finally fufill our purposes. What a wonderful thing to reign with Christ for all eternity and do things to His glory I imagine we may ask Him questions and thigs will be reavealed. I can't imagine it ever getting boring. The bible says that this world is purely a tent (something temporal) but once we reach The place Jesus went to prepare we will be in our permanent home (Heaven)
Praise God, It could never be boring......I'll end with this imagine walking up to God face to face and ask Him if you might see the birth of the universe and Him showing it to you, or having a conversation about the great flood with Noah himself.
WOW! i really drew this on out, sorry, but no I can't imagine anyone saying "Now what ?" because we will be free of sin so I doubt anyone would get tired of "enjoying" Gods grace, and being in perfect peace.

You're right. People assume that we will just be sitting on a cloud for eternity, playing a harp (or, in my case, a mandolin) but that's not true. The Bible says that we will reign with Christ and that we will be given some sort of administrative authority.

Coincidently (or perhaps not), I just heard John MacAurther preach on this this morning.

Well..taking it for granted would be okay because we would be there forever and so would all that good stuff...let's just say that heaven is nothing like what we can think about, it is beyond our imagination, we will do things no human has ever done...God will play with us in the sand or even better, create something special for us to play with...things will be more awesome than you can ever know. I don't know what's in heaven, it's our great big first birthday (for the third time, physical, spiritually, and physical/spiritual) surprise to welcome us into heaven. We get a new name that no one else has and then we go party for the rest of our lives (which is a LONG time, think about that for a while, it boggles your mind, makes it hurt sometime too...)

LAWise520 I love the comparison to a birthday party!

I agree with everyone who says heaven will be a place of; worship, wonder, new things, relationships, exploration, excitement, adventure, creation, recreation, service, rest, and more than we can possibly imagine.

It will definitely NOT be boring, but exactly what it will be has not been fully revealed.

See you there!

Blessings, Susana

In Revelations 20:6 it says: Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over these, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him a thousand years. That does not sound boring to me and you also have to keep in mind that we will not be going to heaven with this corrupt and sinful flesh.

First of all, I don't think we will get sick of the enjoyment because we will be enjoying it. Ya know? We really can't not enjoy something we enjoy. Besides, we won't need to learn anything through suffering because we won't need to learn anything period. We will have perfect bodies and will have no need to know anything that what is revealed to us.

Secondly, I think I'd rather have my fill of enjoyment in Heaven than be tormented for eternity in Hell.

Good point. There is truth to the statement, "Time flies when you're having fun." Well think of eternal fun. Except it will be better than fun. :) :crosself:

The thought of sitting and singing "halluahjuh" for eternity makes me shiver. (lol, im sure most of you feel the same way )- Worshipping God is not going on our knees and bowing like some slaves....Worshipping him is loving and pleasing him. Christians imagine what heaven will be like, but if we lift our eyes we can see that God created 200 billion galaxies. In our galaxy there are about 100 billion stars(the "sun" is a star), with planets. we can see this right now with a big telescope. When paul ascended to heaven he came back a different person, He couldnt describe in words what he had seen.

Paul tells us about the unsearchable riches of christ, which means if we live forever(which we will), we will never explore all of the riches of Christ.
I have always wanted to run with dinosaures, fly spaceships, communicate with my cat, and of course be with God himself.

Look at what Jesus said:

revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
