But scripture is the Word of God, and God knew about future global warming since God is all knowing.
If what's described is global warming. As someone else on the forum has pointed out, at one time it was ascribed to nuclear war. I won't say that it's not from global warming, but neither will I say that it is; I don't know. If it is, then it means efforts to control it are doomed to failure.

You do know that it is a man-made computer programme that is making all the predictions about global warming/global cooling (or the 'one phrase that covers all scenarios') climate change?

They feed the data from whatever length of time the researcher chooses, into the programme and that delivers it's prediction.
And Joe Public is to accept it as undeniable fact?...

Yes, the climate changes - always has, always will - but are the current 'prophets of climate doom' accurate, when the basis of their prediction is something they created? (ie; the computer programme)

For what it's worth:

I keep up with local weather data - highs, lows, precipitation. Earliest records dates to the 1940s. The local annual mean temperature has been in a downward trend since 2015 (this doesn't include 2024, which hasn't ended yet). The annual mean low has also been in decline since 2015. The annual mean high has been in decline since 2016 or 2017 (would have to reject the data).

A few years ago came across something interesting: A high temperature recorded for Savannah, Georgia in 1759 tied the official high temperature recorded in 1986. You would think that the 1986 high would be greater. There's been 36 complete summers since 1986, so you'd expect the record high to be closer to our current time. It suggests something is happening that's not being taken into account. Maybe Savannah's location beside the Atlantic moderates high temperatures. Maybe climate warming is happening on the daily lows and not the highs. That would increase the annual mean temperature (no, I haven't checked this for Savannah). Either way, what the climate at Savannah is doing seems different than what's expected.

Then there's the biggie, which will cause howls out outrage: What if rising temperatures aren't happening as claimed?

"But Tuur, scientists say it is, and NASA says each year is the hottest on record," you might say.

To which I say "Yes, climatologists and NASA does. But why doe the local data I've been keeping track with show a downward trend since 2015?"

I'm not claiming one or the other about this. But even if the data I'm looking at is an outlier, why is it an outlier?

That's all it takes for skepticism. No "chem trails" required.

"

I am not sure why some Christians don't believe in global warming. I mean, Revelation 16:9 talks about great heat, which might be referring to global warming.

Let's take a look at that passage and the other passages surrounding it,...

Rev 16:7 And I heard the altar saying, Yea, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
Rev 16:8 And the fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given unto it to scorch men with fire.
Rev 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat: and they blasphemed the name of the God which hath the power over these plagues; and they repented not to give him glory.
Rev 16:10 And the fifth poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom was darkened; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
Rev 16:11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they repented not of their works.

That doesn't sound like climate change, that sounds like GOD dishing out His wrath upon a bad batch of people.

Way back yonder I watched that film "An inconvenient truth" and i'm pretty sure we were all supposed to be dead by now , or the planet was to go into chaos or something like that.
And yet here we are , all still vertical.

I am not sure why some Christians don't believe in global warming.
I'd rather believe in God's promises-

Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."

This promise still remains true to this day no matter what the fear mongers have spouted out through the years.

I don't believe the average person in their every day life affects the climate one way or the other. It changes on it's own. Should we take care of the earth? Yes, of course but this promise from God tells me that until the end of this world/age (we don't know when that might be) and while the earth remaineth the climate will go on as much as it always has and we will still have seed time and harvest, cold and heat, and summers and winters. So even if something like that were possible which I don't believe, the end will come before something like that would happen. I certainly don't think it's something to fear or worry about as so many would want us to while they have no problem as someone else said using their private jets, yachts etc-, leaving a far bigger carbon footprint in one day than the average person would leave in their entire lifetime.

Emitting pollution in the air is certainly awful, I agree, especially when it concerns health, etc. But I trust God and his promises about the climate.
