Add to that the amount of fear mongering and lying that is done in the name of Global warming and you have quite the recipe for being ignored. If you and others really cared about the environment you'd work with people not against them.

Notice how all the liberal remedies for global warming just happen to put burdens on the private sector and to enhance the power of government.

What about the state? Is it not wasteful of resources? Does it not contribute to what liberals see is an imminent environmental danger to us all?

Let's take one "for instance": the incredible consumption of natural resources by the government school system. For 180 days a year, we transport tens of millions of children by bus to air conditioned and heated central facilities. Several million teachers and staff commute everyday to work in very expensive to built brick and mortar facilites. The economic cost is well over $400 billion a year. Why don't we hear calls from the left to decentralize that system? To move large chunks of it to the internet, the home and private local facilites which, because they are market directed, are far more frugile consumers of natural resources? Why no call to eliminate the boondoggle called the "Department of Education", take the billions we spend every year there on meaningless paperwork and use to to fund research on clean, renewable energy?

That is one example. There are, although mostly smaller in scale, hundreds more. But the left never ever seeks to conserve when it comes to government projects.* The more the better. No matter how wasteful they are.

*the one exception being National Defense. Which happens to be one of the few things the Federal government does which it is constitutionally empowered to do. Education is not mentioned in the constitution and liberals never cease calling for more Federal money for that. Defense is and they want it cut.

Most climate change policies call for lower emisions overall, regardless of what sector creates them.

The relative cost/benefit analysis of decentralising education is a whole other issue.

The US is continually reducing auto and industrial emissions. If the evironuts really cared they would have demanded that China and India be under the Kyoto accord.

They both have signed and ratified the treaty.

Charles Schumer and others who are aghast at the idea of Americans developing American resources on the North Slope of Alaska under very stringent U.S. law don't say much about oil drilling on the other side of the Bering Sea where environmental controls are weak. In fact, Schumer was at the opening of the first Russian gas station in America. The Senator from New York called the Yukos owned station a "win win for American consumers". (wasn't a win for the CEO of Yukos. Shortly after he forced his way into the American market, Putin threw him in prison for tax evasion)

If is is all one big ecosystem, why doesn't Schumer mention pollution others cause? Why does he go after the companies which pump money into the American economy, create jobs for Americans and are among the cleanest in the world?

I heard that some lady has stopped the schools in the area somewhere around Seattle from showing ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Her children were talking about the film and she thought it should not be shown without a counter film being shown with it. She said the Bible is saying the world will end in fire so global warming is not unexpected. [Click here]

Don't see why it needs a counter. Political screeds such as "An Inconvenient Truth" have no business in school. Parent's should say no to the political operatives who try to inject their ideology into the classroom. Not just because its a waste of time but because, even worse, what Gore is selling is Lysenkosim. America is far enough behind in science as it is. We don't need Gore to indoctrinate kids with his eschatological visions of doom(although his cartoons of New York City being flooded and "Greenhouse Gasses" beating up "Mr. Sunbeam" are funny in a freaky 1960s kinda way).

I asked you in the last thread - why shouldn't they show an Inconvenient Truth? I have seen it and it is quite accurate and in agreement with the prevailing scientific opinion (I am not the only one to think that - link) So what exactly is wrong with the film?

There is so much rubbish and utter nonsense in this I don't even know where to begin. So are you implying that global warming is actually caused by public education? Couldn't possibly be all those big factories and coal plants run by the private sector? Nope, gotta be the public education system.

Somehow I imagine that if you had things your way Voegelin, we'd be living in a world full of smog and pullution and everyone would be too dumb to even notice because you would have done away with education.

do you not understand global climate or are you deliberately obfuscating the issue? I'd like to know before I decide whether to attempt to disabuse you of your misconceptions.

I'll go with the latter. California getting a particularly cold week (but the temp is for the season is still average), doesn't mean that global warming is not occuring. Although california had a cold few days, the East coast is having the warmest winter on record, it looks like today we'll finally start getting into a more prolonged groove of seasonal temps.

What caused the last major ice age to end which was thousands of years before man's industrial activity? What caused global warming then?

I don't know off hand exactly what ended the last ice age. But it seems that CO2 levels and temp around that time have a strong relationship. (green line is CO2, blue line is temp)

Looks like Global Warming killed the California citrus crop this week:

Just wanted to line these up for the sight. The dodges, they are impressive.
