An ice age can be precitipated by the results of a warming trend, and very quickly and cataclysmicly . . . We see this in history . . the Mammoths were frozen instantly in the process of eating . . obviously something drastic and cataclysmic happened - they went from warm (green vegetation) to instant frozen . . .

Before this, and even after this (even though the Mammoths proved this isn't true) we were taught that these things happened gradually -over very long spans of time . . Obviously they don't necessarily . .

So a "cooling" trend" or "warming" trend has to be looked at as part of a larger picture. The earth is experiencing tempuratures that have approached peak tempuratures seen in its entire global history. This says to me that something is going on, an we should be paying close attention. You are looking at 2 incidents in incredibly close time frames . . . They, coupled with so many other "incidents" of various natures, give me reason to pause . . .

I watched a T.V. programme today produced by David Attenborough, the British 'ace' of geological info. and natural chemistry, and the filming of such.

A Polar bear was endeavouring to walk but its legs were wide apart, "spreading its weight to avoid sinking through the thin ice". A strange sight.

Attenborough's comment was that these bears need such ice and snow, in order to provide their food, and in order to hunt it.

the fact of global warming in the twentieth century is fairly well-established. the idea that the globalwarming is caused by greenhouse emissions is also accepted by most of the relevant scientific community.

What its ultimate effect will be, and what, if anything, can or should be done about it is a matter of controversy and conjecture and imagination.

The science of solutions to such a complex issue is just not sophisitacted enough to provide us with the solution. So rest assured that the solutions presented to us will reflect the politcal aspirations and biases of whomsoever is presenting them to us.
As case in point:

from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitigation_of_global_warming
July 2006: United States Congress, hitherto a staunch defender of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and all it stands for, is poised to allow America's laws to be amended to accommodate civilian nuclear trade with India, despite that country's bomb-building. The Bush administration defends its India deal as good for combating Global warming, good for friendship with the world's most popolous liberal democracy and good for jobs in America.

Hi everybody,

You know with all this climate change, volcanoes, Earthquakes, tsunamis, record-breaking huricanes and what-not makes me wonder if The magnetic pole shift has something to do with all this. After all we have no record of what happened last time, of course I could have it backwards and the magnetic pole shift could be the result of global warming.

The truth though, Therese, is that we're not coming anywhere near peak temperatures seen in the Earth's "entire global history." Not even close! I don't know where you're hearing that. I've heard claims along the lines of: "The planet is getting warmer than it's been in a 1000 years," but even that isn't true. It's not even warmer than it's been in a 100 years, for goodness sake. Overall, the 1930s were warmer in the northern hemisphere than it is now. Watch your local news each night and keep track of the dates of the record highs. You'll be surprised at how many of those records date to days between the 1890s and 1940s. For instance, where I live we hit a high of 11 degrees C yesterday. It was a very nice, above average temperature for this time of year. But the record high for January 2 here in Calgary is 12.2 degrees C, set way back in 1918. If the relatively warm weather yesterday is attributable to anthropogenic global warming, what was the cause of the even warmer weather back in 1918?

Regardless of all this, are we not put on this planet by God who gave us the gift of life and the gift of all creations. And should we not take care of them and us? Does this not mean recycle, use energy efficiently and be health conscience? Does not buying an SUV, motor boat, air plane and polluting the air not to mention burn up our bank accounts and the world fuel go against that? I know we all need to live and some of us need to drive, but please, can't this all be done in moderation? Perhaps pollution has nothing to do with the Polar Ice Caps melting but it certainly has to do with some of the diseases we have to endure. So I believe whole heartedly that the polar ice caps are insignifant in response to pollution. What we should be more concerned about is are we taking care of what God gave us to the best of our abilities. I say not. I say Christians are just as much to blame as everyone else, yet we have a responsibility and an accountability. Many blessings to all of you!

Here is another Global Warming article I came across today

New UN Children's Book Promotes Global Warming Fears to Kids

A new United Nations children's book promoting fears of catastrophic manmade
global warming is being promoted at the UN Climate Change Conference in
Kenya. The books main character, a young boy, is featured getting so worried
about a coming manmade climate disaster that he yells "I don't want to hear
anymore!" The new children's book, entitled "Tore and the Town on Thin Ice"
((http://www.unep.org/PDF/TORE.pdf)) is published by the United Nations
Environment Programme and blames "rich countries" for creating a climate
catastrophe and urges children to join environmental groups.

The book is about a young kid named Tore who lives in an Arctic village.
Tore loses a dog sled race because he crashes through the thinning ice
allegedly caused by manmade greenhouse gas emissions. The book features
colorful drawings and large text to appeal to young children.

After the boy loses the dog sled race, he is visited by "Sedna, the Mother
of the Sea" in a dream. The "Sea Mother" Goddess informs the boy in blunt
terms that the thinning ice that caused his loss in the dog sled race was
due to manmade global warming.

"I'm the one who created and cares for the sea creatures -- whales and
walruses, seals and fish," the "Sea Mother" explained to the boy. The "Sea
Mother" then tells the boy she will educate him about the reason the ice is
thinning.

A "snowy owl" informs Tore that "the planet's heating up" and that both the
Arctic and Antarctica "are warming almost twice as fast as elsewhere."

Next, a polar bear informs Tore that it is hungry because the ice is too
thin to stand on and hunt and the bear says that other bears have "starved"
because the sea ice went out to sea.

After a whale appears to present more climate fear, the boy finally screams,
"Listen, I've had all the bad news I can stand. Our world is melting. Polar
bears are starving and all sorts of animals won't survive. I don't want to
hear anymore!"

The "Sea Mother" tells him of the dangerous effects that an oil and gas
based energy system has on the climate and the "Sea Mother" singles out the
industrialized world as the cause of her predicted climate catastrophe.

Finally the "Sea Mother" tells Tore that the solution to the climate crisis
can begin in his Arctic village by "setting up solar panels to get
electricity from the sun, and modern windmills to capture the energy of the
wind."

So you are claiming that the claim in the article I quoted is false? You are claiming that in December, last month, Europe didn't experience the hottest tempuratures since 1659, almost 400 years ago?

Interesting article on The Global warming scare tactic.

According to one American climatologist, the "scare-them-to-death" approach seems to be the best way to get money for climate studies. Dr. Stephen Schneider, a leading prophet of man-made climate warming, stated this bluntly:
"To capture the public imagination... we have to... make simplified dramatic statements, and little mention of any doubts one might have.... Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest".

We've all heard the stories, reported as indisputable fact: The last century or decade is just about the hottest the world has ever been. Carbon dioxide from burning gasoline and coal is blamed. Unless their solution is enacted right now, temperatures will rise terribly in the next century. Icecaps will start to melt, coasts will flood, storms will get worse, diseases will spread, animals will die, and more.

The best lies contain a measure of truth. Yes, carbon dioxide in the air has increased in the last century due to the use of fossil fuels. Yes, global average temperature has increased 0.8 degrees F in the same century. Unfortunately, the temperature increase came first: most of the temperature increase was before 1940, and most of the new carbon dioxide was added after 1960. Would you trust a "scientist" who said the result came before the cause?

Please do. It is amazing as you research this topic. For every scientist that spits out facts about the dangers of global warming there is another scientist that spits out facts to counter it. This fact is simple. Studying global climate change is $5 billion a year industry. Who gets that money? The scientist who claim global warming is destroying our world.

About 30 years ago it was all over the news about the pending upcoming Ice age

Although the book of Revelation does speak about the Sun and intense heat.

Revelation 16:; 8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.

You Canadians better watch out.

The last time there was a warming cycle, Norseman in long boats headed your way armed with swords, spears and double-handed broad axes.

Now they got Bofors 40mm automatic cannon, Saab JAS Gripen 39 fighter jets and Kongsberg Gruppen Remote Weapon Systems.

Hilarious.

Yeah, I'd be more concerned if not for the fact that Scandinavians these days have so thoroughly emasculated themselves with socialism and its overly generous social programs that they refuse to use such weapons against even their real enemies. I read recently where a Swedish government minister explained, "We must practice tolerance towards Muslims and their beliefs so that, when they're in the majority, they'll practice tolerance towards us."

My only hope is that this didn't sound nearly so spineless in his native Swedish.

One side is making money with scare tactic's and one side is making money in keeping us calm ...

I'm on the side that can do something about it.

If they are right, winter homes in North Dakota will be a good investment, buy yours today!!

All the fear tacktics don't fit prophecy though. The tribulation is only three and a half years of wrath, and I'm going pretrib rapture anyway.

Global warming is not man made it is God made.

And winters up North have been getting milder but I am southern boy I love my heat....LOL

But the effects of Global warming and limited nuclear war are only the birth pains and come long before the tribulation ever starts. So even pretribbers won't miss these things.

But there is never anything to fear. We know God gave those strength who were fed to lions and crucified.

We know God promises not to allow us to be put in any situation we cannot handle if we trust , love and obey him.

God bless,
Carey
