How about not burning fossil fuels when there are alternatives?

No - CO2 is an ESSENTIAL nutrient for all plant life. Presently we are on the low end of the scale as it now is. This is why hydroponic gardeners "Feed" their plants with liquid carbonic.

Just saying “Co2 = plant food, therefore more plant food will be good for them and force them to grow bigger” is about as sensible as saying “Pizza is human food, therefore more Pizza will be good for them and FORCE them to grow bigger!”

We might in truth get bigger. But the trite summary above ignores diabetes, heart disease, circulatory problems and ... death. Plants are also vulnerable to various problems if they get too much 'plant food'. It messes with their self-defence toxins. Some produce too little; others too much.

Less toxic makes them more vulnerable to bug attacks.
The “CO2 is Good for Plants” Crock. Turns out — not so much. | Climate Denial Crock of the Week

More toxic renders them inedible to us or livestock.
How plants respond to increasing carbon dioxide - The Science Show - ABC Radio National (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Also, let's not forget the carbon impacts on atmospheric temperatures and increased moisture movement. Every extra degree of temperature allows the atmosphere to carry 5% more moisture. That means increased evaporation and drought in drying areas, and increased precipitation in dumping areas. It means increased floods and famines.

If America were to build out nuclear waste-eating GenIV reactors like GE's S-PRISM and convert to electric cars, that would both help solve global warming AND rejuvinate the economy. You guys currently waste $600 billion a year importing liquid fuels for transport energy. That's $6 TRILLION a decade. There are stacks of BIG projects that this money could go into that would give you NATIONAL SECURITY (from oil dependency to oil shock immunity & national security).

Christians have an enormous role to play in waking up the social consciences of our nations to wean off fossil fuels, especially coal, asap. Coal kills a million people a year! It's time for change.

Anyone who loves a free market would applaud either a MASSIVE carbon tax which would at least DOUBLE the cost of coal, or even a worldwide ban on coal mining, because coal power is almost communist with the MASSIVE subsidies it gets from the taxpayer.

1. Coal particulate dust travels huge distances and kills roughly a million people a year worldwide. The health bill costs society about the same amount as the whole coal energy bill in the first place. Coal has externalised its health bill. This bill would DOUBLE the cost of coal if included in the price.
How Deadly Is Your Kilowatt? We Rank The Killer Energy Sources - Forbes
So, counter-intuitively if you love a FREE MARKET you should support a 100% carbon tax on coal with the proceeds going to Medicare to pay for the care of the many victims of coal dust and smog.

2. Fossil fuels company's worldwide enjoy subsidies and kickbacks worth have a trillion dollars a year. It's a simple fact, and anyone that contests it is naive as to how the system works. This isn't 'externalised costs' but fuel discounts, tax discounts, kickbacks, favours, etc. It's real money they don't have to pay that we usually do. Why are they any different to other forms of energy?

3. All of this makes me conclude that there IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE MARKET FOR ENERGY. The marketplace is completely ruled by fossil fuel companies that buy out governments and make them their bus-boys. Government doesn't rule the Koch brothers, they rule the government! It's the same here in Australia, where Kevin Rudd was ousted for wanting to put a decent mining tax on our larger companies. BAM! Gone. Knifed in the back by a late-night emergency coup orchestrated by Gillard. (And then she complains when Kevin returns the favour a few years later? It's all chauvinism? Wow, how delusional those at the top get).

All of this has me concluding that even if one didn't think global warming were scientifically valid (and it's as valid as any test done in a physics lab, ever), then there are STILL enormously good MARKET driven reasons to tax coal so it pays its way, as we should any company that is not paying for the damage it does to society. This is where nuclear power would be cheaper and safer. Unlike coal, nuclear power can now burn its own waste. All that waste sitting around in cooling ponds could run the world for 500 years. This is not some super-new technology, but based on physics we've run in breeder reactors since the 1960's. We would have them now if Clinton hadn't closed down the IFR program in 1994. The physics is known: but they do just need commercialising. And then we'll have SUPER SAFE Integral Fast Reactors that would have REFUSED to melt down at Fukushima, and that EAT NUCLEAR WASTE. And that's a win for society!

Not trying to labor the point, but this is the 2nd time in 3 years this has happened. There are many records being set, but I don't think there is the agressive pushing of them to the public. What do you think of the pole shift theory and its affect on climate? Some of this runs down into mountains in mexico. This time the report says there is usually a warm rebound in a day or two. Got to watch that word "usually"!

I took the time and effort to answer your question about how people choke to death on coal dust, and what the world's death toll is per terrawatt by various energy sources. Can you please tell me if you agree that coal kills millions of people before you change the subject yet again?

Can we please deal with one subject at a time? It might just be me, but I'm feeling certain similarities here to other conversations I've had with other climate sceptics. I've noticed a trend amongst certain sceptics who Cluster Bomb a thread with a variety of topics without rhyme or reason. They assert Argument A and are comprehensively answered. But instead of digging deep and really getting to the bottom of what the data says on that particular topic, they deploy their next package. Assert B! Arguments C, D, E and F are already locked and loaded and ready to deploy, whatever the answer to A or B actually turns out to be. Because these particular individuals are not interested in the answers, are they? They just want to shout 'climate change is not true!' a hundred times in a thread.

I hope this is not you? So, in an effort to have a real conversation about what is actually happening out in the real world of peer-reviewed science, what did you think about the links above above about the last topic we were dealing with?

the coldest readings ever at east Antarctica came this week (-135.3F), while on Oct 11 2013, the DAILY MAIL reported that 535K sq miles more ice was just measured in the Arctic compared to the same measurement point last year.

Interplanner, out of all the stuff you post, it would be this post that I agree with the most.

The global warming scam is just another AC tactic to prepare us for this.

Rev_16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.

Now the news is saying that by 2020, we will see a huge increase in earthly temperatures.. Not over the next 50 years like they used to say.. I think they know the time is at hand personally..

Interesting, by my calculations, thats the 6th year of Daniels 70th week.

But dont take my word for it. I absolutely must be wrong about that..

Right? lol..

Oh those who sleep, do so in such peace..

How much different is this report from other reports over perhaps, a 5 or 10 year study? Is there anything to compare with? Being Antarctica, and too cold for normal population, I imagine the weather changes to be more dramatic than in calmer regions like North America where we see weather changes from year to year too, in fact we are experiencing a very cold weather snap over a large part of America and how much area does that equal to?

I wonder if you are comparing apples with oranges?

No, he is correct.

We are experiencing extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

The last 3 winters in the US have proven that we are not "getting warmer".

Did you not see what happened to England?

Wake up to truth, it doesnt come from the news..

All news comes from the same place.

Media is satanic, and its being used to condition you.

Thats why its called "programming"..

Its doublespeak bro..

The weather is being manipulated by something other than man. But take comfort in this:

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

LOVE IT...

Here is why all the dead animals are washing up, birds falling out of the sky and all the cattle kills lately..

Hos 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Hos 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

I haven't been watching this global warming debate as close as some other people have, and I myself have not noticed any warming but I have noticed dramatic variances in record high's and low's and this isn't different from some times past but are experiencing other phenomenon's in addition and in greater force and more frequent intervals. I've seen very cold and very hot weather variances where I live in the past 5 yrs or so, and this one is unusually cold for this time ever here. My water pipes froze over by 8:30 pm on the west coast and this has never happened before in ten yrs in my home.

As I noted in another post elsewhere, I believe that Satan has created more deceptions upon deceptions so to cause mass confusion about everything and in the finest details. I'm not really sold on global warming now that I know that there is too many things to sort through, and politics makes it only worse.

In this context of the beasts, which you have called "animals" are not what you think. Whenever people read the word "beast" they assume that it means literal animals in all senses but this prophecy has a spiritual interpretation that concerns the subject that is mentioned in verse one, and this sets the course for interpretation.

Hosea 4:1-7
King James Version (KJV)
4 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Notice that it isn't a controversy with animals. The controversy is with Israel and God calls them beasts just as worded in Genesis. The beasts of the field, and the other forms mentioned all have a parallel to humans in a metaphor.

God isn't concerned about how they are treating animals nor how they get along with animals. The beasts are symbolic.

Just like when Elijah was sent into the wilderness and was fed by ravens; the wilderness is 'corruption' and the ravens are a support system, sort of like Social Security of our time. There are all sorts of forms of beasts that describe a host of characters and this is where we see a lot of confusion. That's how I see it.

I recently discussed this issue in another thread where we compared Job 5:23 and the "stones of the field" that make a covenant, and I asked how can a man talk to rocks if this is not a metaphor or symbol? And the beasts of the field are in the same covenant and the same field, in addition. We must see how it's used within the Bible, and not some single idea about literal animals because it doesn't compute. Man doesn't talk to rocks nor does he talk to beasts unless they are people. Thanks

To see actual differences between reports currently being circulated by the US government and reports issued only a short time go that showed what was allegedly the same data, go to post 119 in this thread, which is currently on page 50 as my computer shows them.

In that post I compare he historical weather date they posted only a few years ago (yes, some of us saved it) with the data they currently have posted, clearly and graphically showing the blatant falsehood of their current claims. For historical temperature dats does not and cannot change. But they changed what they claim is exactly the same historical data.

Interesting..

I see it as a literal fulfillment of prophecy..

1560 Geneva w/apocrypha
Hos 4:2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and whoring they breake out, and blood toucheth blood.
Hos 4:3 Therefore shall the land mourne, and euery one that dwelleth therein, shall be cut off, with the beasts of the fielde, and with the foules of the heauen, and also the fishes of the sea shall be taken away.

Birds falling out of the sky, how did you not hear about this?

Fish of the sea

Beasts of the Fields

Are you really so sure the Prophecy wasnt literal? Further, do you not realize this is happening world wide right now?

This is happening in our lifetime bro, I couldnt make this up if I wanted to..

I had a normal life man, a good life, I didnt bother nobody, and I kept after myself.

But you have to be ignorant not to see the signs of the times we are in..

The Bible is more literal than you know..

Have you noticed the jet contrails hazing out the entire sky for months on end? We have had a few sunny days here, but Ive seen months without a crisp blue sky.

I myself have seen odd patterns in cloud formations drifting across the skies as if they were laced intentionally. I would imagine that chem-trails are real just as chemical warfare technology is rising. There could be drugs in the atmosphere, who knows? I heard rumors of water supplies being drugged, but who knows? I don't doubt them but I won't swear on them, neither. I'm holding fast to my faith. Thanks

Well, CP, I am not discounting what you tell, there is always a natural phenomenon associated with a spiritual one, and it works in reverse, as well. It's part of the theory: "What goes around comes around", and there's always two sides to a coin. This I mean that we should know this and flip the coin over and see what's on the other side (spiritually), because there's always a spiritual fulfillment to what we see but it's not as we see it. I hope that I didn't confuse this thought but to clarify it.
