  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Back in the 70's we were still punching holes into a card to feed data into the computer. But I will put the car I had in 1970 up against any car they make today.

Nice ride, but I suspect it'll have a tough time against a ZR-1 Corvette.

Nice looking car is the only good thing about your Gas Guzzling, lousy road handling, terrible durability, stone age transport vehicle.

Try going against the Tesla all electric and we shall see who will go home in shame:

How does warming damage the environment?

By "damage" I mean change the environment in ways that are detrimental to human society or changes to ecosystems that we think should stay the same. Weather patterns will change in response to elevated temperatures. Droughts will become common in many agricultural areas.

The real damage is from the chemical run off from the farms and lawns. That is what creates the dead zones in the oceans and great lakes.

That is also a source of environmental damage. I don't think anyone disagrees. Another interesting topic is human introduction of exotic species to new ecosystems. In my own area of the globe, cheat grass has been a catastrophe. It was brought over from the Mediterranean, and it has spread throughout the high desert in the western US. Its adaptation is to bury seeds in the soil and then burn really, really hot. There are actually chemicals in cheat grass that are meant to burn hot. This kills all of the cheat grass' competition, and their seeds sprout in the ashes of its victims. Prior to the introduction of cheat grass, wildfires did not burn as hot, nor did they occur as often. Now you are lucky to find any sagebrush older than 25 years or so where before you could find huge sagebrush that were much older than 50 years. This has also reduced the diversity of desert plants, and hence the diversity of rodents and the birds that prey on them.
