That's the problem with all of you self-appointed police. I build my post count on sub-fora that are created for that purpose. You don't build post count by responding to threads. Do you really think that you informed me of something by pointing your fingers at me?

It may have escaped your notice but most of the other forums are running full blast without these post restrictions.

Highlighting additions to a post have no effect on the displayed age of the post so they are useless in that regard. The reasons for Editing box is most useful for rule violations and ordinary editing. If you have your way the only way I can make a new submission to a thread is if someone else posts first after my last post. This means that it matters not how much time has passed or would you suggest a time barrier?

Try and behave rationally please, governing rules composition is nothing like self appointed police.

This is why editing will work just as well as adding another post. Your post would still be the last post. If someone else posts after yours post then you are no longer making double posts. I don't think it would stand as a double post if it was made a day or two later. That could easily be spelled out in the rule.

Since my post count has nothing to do with rules composition the location of irrationality has been adequately revealed.

I have no problems with this resolution especially since I don't recall engaging in double posting, unless you wish to prohibit posters from making consecutive responses to different posts in the same thread. That would be unnecessarily burdensome. I may respond to the last post in thread A then go to thread B which make reference to another post in thread A. Both posts would now appear at the end of thread A. I don't consider that to be double posting.

If I am responding to two different people I put it in two different posts so that everyone can find it easily. I MUCH prefer this way and don't at all understand why it is a problem.

Nor do I see why starting more than 2 threads is a problem. If I don't like Reddogs threads I just go to the next. I assume others will do the same for me.

During this rules formation process I have made a number of threads--if we didn't nothing would get done.

Just let people post and read what you want.

That is my thought. If it goes to a vote we will see what happens.

Again though, if you want your idea in the polls don't post it here, but post it in the wiki.

This is not the wiki.

I tried, but it turns out I don't have enough posts. I take this to mean I'm not allowed to make suggestions? Well this is the only thing that I figured no one else might say in the wiki, so I put it here at least so at least it might get discussed it in the wiki by you guys.

You are probably right as there are probably too many people who don't realize that they can respond to more then one person per post. If people would think about what they are doing it seems pretty obvious that you can respond to X, with a quote and a comment and later in the same post respond to Y and quote and comment.

You've been here long enough to vote, but at one time there was a 100 posts minimum to vote too and I bet they set the wikis up where you had to have that amount.

You just need 7 more, so you might try it when you hit 100.

It's too much work. In another forum I belong to the software automatically places all posts by one person in the same thread within a specific time into one post. I don't particularly care for it so I sometimes edit that post and create additional posts at a later stage.
