• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is very important for BIPOLARS to understand GOD'S WORD.

Because this forum is not in the CHRISTIANS ONLY section and the fact that many are not aware of Just what GOD'S WORD says, I am posting a very important part of GOD'S WORD.

It is my hope that this TRUTH, WISDOM, and UNDERSTANDING of GOD'S
WORD will be your guide in making decisions on accepting a doctors care:

"
Ecclesiasticus
Chapter 38

HONOUR the physician for the need thou hast of him: for the most High hath created him.
2 For all healing is from God, and he shall receive gifts of the king.
3 The skill of the physician shall lift up his head, and in the sight of great men he shall be praised.
4 The most High hath created medicines out of the earth, and a wise man will not abhor them.
5 Was not bitter water made sweet with wood?
6 The virtue of these things is come to the knowledge of men, and the meet High hath given knowledge to men, that he may be honoured in his wonders.
7 By these he shall cure and shall allay their pains, and of these the apothecary shall make sweet confections, and shall make up ointments of health, and of his works there shall be no end.
8 For the peace of God is over all the face of the earth.
9 My son, in thy sickness neglect not thyself, but pray to the Lord, and he shall heal thee.
10 Turn away from sin and order thy hands aright, and cleanse thy heart from all offence.
11 Give a sweet savour, and a memorial of fine flour, and make a fat offering, and then give place to the physician.
12 For the Lord created him: and let him not depart from thee, for his works are necessary.
13 For there is a time when thou must fall into their hands:
14 And they shall beseech the Lord, that he would prosper what they give for ease and remedy, for their conversation.
15 He that sinneth in the sight of his Maker, shall fall into the hands of the physician. "

GOD BLESSED US WITH DOCTORS AND THE MEDS WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO FACE THIS WORLD AND WORSHIP HIM.

So it is my sincere hope that YOU will:

GOD SURE HAS BLESSED THIS BIPOLAR AS A RESULT OF IT!!

This is the correct spelling.

The following will give you what I think your looking for:

"
Ecclesiasticus

The Book of Ecclesiasticus, also called Sirach

This Book is so called from a Greek word that signifies a preacher: because, like an excellent preacher, it gives admirable lessons of all virtues. The author was Jesus the son of Sirach of Jerusalem, who flourished about two hundred years before Christ. As it was written after the time of Esdras. It was first written in the Hebrew, but afterwards translated into Greek, by another Jesus, the grandson of the author, whose prologue to this book is the following:
THE PROLOGUE. The knowledge of many and great things hath been shown us by the law, and the prophets, and others that have followed them: for which things Israel is to be commended for doctrine and wisdom, because not only they that speak must needs be skilful, but strangers also, both speaking and writing, may by their means become most learned. I entreat you therefore to come with benevolence, and to read with attention, and to pardon us for those things wherein we may seem, while we follow the image of wisdom, to come short in the composition of words; for the Hebrew words have not the same force in them when translated into another tongue. And not only these, but the law also itself, and the prophets, and the rest of the books, have no small difference, when they are spoken in their own language. For in the eight and thirtieth year coming into Egypt, when Ptolemy Evergetes was king, and continuing there a long time, I found there books left, of no small nor contemptible learning. Therefore I thought it good, and necessary for me to bestow some diligence and labour to interpret this book; and with much watching and study in some space of time, I brought the book to an end, and set it forth for the service of them that are willing to apply their mind, and to learn how they ought to conduct themselves, who purpose to lead their life according to the law of the Lord. That's the Apocrypha. Many of us don't consider it part of the Bible insprired by God but of course that's open to debate.

When most of us say The Word, we aren't including the Apocrypha, but some may. I'm very aware of what God's Word says, but not the Apocrypha and I feel it's impolite to imply there are those here who don't because they don't find some of the Apocryphal "quotes" (or paraphrases as they are used here) in the Bible.

I mean this in the most loving way and hope it may clear up any misunderstandings.

Dear Lemonflavor

I'm sorry I didn't have time to look this up for you the other day.

I was busy but I guess that's not a very good excuse.

I'm surely not saying I couldn't make a mistake but I never attempt to say something is in GOD'S WORD if it isn't.

I couldn't even tell you where to find it till I had a chance to look it up myself. I have attempted to read GOD'S WORD enough to where it is in my heart and comes to mind when I need it. I'm not smart enough to be able to quote chapter and verse, so I don't even try.

I look at the Bible as GOD'S GIVEN WORD. HIS WORD says we shall neither add to or take away from GOD'S WORD. I try not to dissect it. I believe GOD'S WORD should be taken with simplicity. If that were not so, then there would be very few CHRISTIANS.

The reason I quoted this is out of concern of a bipolar stopping their meds. Many feel that the only reason they have this disease is because their FAITH is weak. JUST NOT SO!!! They need encouragement from a source MUCH higher than ours. I feel it would be wrong for me to debate a book in GOD'S WORD.

If you look at this book and compare it to ANY CHRISTIAN BIBLE I think you will find no conflict on it's instruction.

This is a wonderful book for new CHRISTIANS to read. It gives us the basic
guide for life.

When we have a new bipolar come to this forum and doubt the doctor or the taking of meds, I hope you will refer them to this book in GOD'S WORD.

It's strictly an act of LOVE.

I wish no hard feelings to anyone. I hope by my posts that I might be able to show the LOVE of GOD.

BUT I MUST STAND ON THE WORD OF GOD OR WHAT GOOD AM I?

BROTHER LEMONFLAVOR I HOPE WE CAN BOTH REMEMBER:

from a University of Virgina website:

What is the Apocrypha?

The term "apocrypha" was coined by the fifth-century biblical scholar St. Jerome and refers to the biblical books included as part of the Septuagint (the Greek version of the Old Testament), but not included in the Hebrew Bible.
Several works ranging from the fourth century B.C.E. to New Testament times are considered apocryphal--including Judith, the Wisdom of Solomon, Tobit, Sirach (or Ecclesiasticus), Baruch, First and Second Maccabees, the two Books of Esdras, various additions to the Book of Esther (10:4-10), the Book of Daniel (3:24-90;13;14), and the Prayer of Manasseh.
The apocrypha have been variously included and omitted from bibles over the course of the centuries. Protestant churches generally exclude the apocrypha (though the King James version of 1611 included them). The Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches include all of the apocrypha (except for the books of Esdras and the Prayer of Manasseh), but refer to them as "deuterocanonical" books. In this context, the term "apocrypha" generally refers to writings entirely outside of the biblical canon and not considered inspired (such as the Gospel of Thomas). These same books are referred to by Protestants as the "pseudoepigrapha."

So I would assume that it is part of the Catholic Bible. I pray that I am right in this assumption.

In my quest to find as much TRUTH, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, and LOVE I have read from both the KING JAMES VERSION ( Protestant ) and the Catholic Bible.

The reason being is that both came from one source. I do not recommend one over the other and feel all GOD'S MARICALS come out of both.

If anyone should read this Wonderful BOOK I have a hard time believing that they would believe that these WORKS are not inspired by GOD.

To overlook this BOOK is to overlook TRUTH, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, and LOVE.

GOD has always been with us and it would be hard for me to believe HE just started talking to us at A certain time.

Then if you refer to Adam and Eve you will find HE talked to them.

I'm not smart as some folks to be able to decide what BOOKS goes into the make up of the Bible.

I do know it's between the Cover of GOD'S WORD that says we shall neither add to or take away. When you consider this and the fact that at one time they both had it in then WHOSE TO SAY.

It's way beyond me and I know it's beyond what GOD intended for ME.

With out ONE doubt I believe there is NOT ONE WORD that JESUS would not confirm.

I would like to add that I believe this is the first time that I can recall reading a post by Pegasus. One that has devoted time to make this forum what it is today.
As you can see the post comes STRAIGHT to the point. WHO could do better. THANK YOU.

I got to thinking about what you said and I thought to myself that maybe you could bring more understanding on this.

You said:

" I don't go beyond the KJV written word of God except the original Greek it was written from.

"Dear Pegasus said:

" The term "apocrypha" was coined by the fifth-century biblical scholar St. Jerome and refers to the biblical books included as part of the Septuagint (the Greek version of the Old Testament), "

AND

" The apocrypha have been variously included and omitted from bibles over the course of the centuries. Protestant churches generally exclude the apocrypha (though the King James version of 1611 included them). "

Since you study the Greek translation of which the KJV was written from, and you know about these verses, why do you not witness this?

Do you disagree with the GREEKS?

This has me confused.

I look forward to finding what TRUTH, WISDOM, and UNDERSTANDING that I might gain from your INSIGHT!

Maybe Dear Lemonflavor might be able to shed some light on this from his insight also?

We can never learn to much.

Thankyou for posting these verses Wonderwaleye, I too read the apocrypha and find alot of it helpful. I don't think it takes anything away from the bible versions that don't have it. I do alot of spiritual reading that doesn't come from the good book such as the lives of the saints and devotions. Thanks again.
