Oh, I just wanna hug that guy. That is what mine looked like, but It wasn't as wide spread...it was on my back, chest and stomach, neck, jawline, scalp, shoulders. Sometimes in the inner arm at the elbow.
We even found some dryer sheets that contained panthenol. I use all fragrance free laundry detergents (currently All) , and only use unscented dryer sheets in the winter when static sets in.
I just feel so bad for him, because I know how he feels, and it is so frustrating. I lived with topical steroids on my skin daily for years, and wonder how that will affect me in the long run.
In my 20's I did find a couple of lotions that seemed to act as partial barriers on my skin against the then "unknown" cuase. The best one I don't even think is around any more. It was The Body Shop Unscented lotion....I think it's base was brazillne nut. I couldn't use it on my face or I'd get acne, but it helped on my chest and back. It never completely blocked my exposure to the irritant, but it helped. (Finding out the cause was the only thing that really made a change.)
I'd also use straight mineral oil sometimes (it is the same ingredient as baby oil, but no scent...you get it in the laxative section LOL! So don't let him drink it or he'll be spending a day in the biffy!) It is a safe non-irritating way to sooth the skin. And you know there won't be any added ingredients that way.
For heat rash, which also can make the skin more open to eczema reaction, use plain corn starch...not the babypoweder corn starch (which again contains perfumes and addetives).
I've never run into any problems with the Aveno products. I currently use Aveno Skin Relief Body Wash for my shower gel (tan bottle, aqua colored top and lable), since it is fragrance free, and my skin is still dry...even if it isn't reacting.
Just some thoughts. Hope they help.
