  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well you HAVE to know what sorts of things she likes. But if you ARE as clueless as you say you are then you could go with a cute teddy bear, or a friendship/promise ring, braclet with your names engraved (my bf got it done for $30 Canadian), anklet, or her favourite perfume. Those are things I would or have appreciated. :)

Well, I do know what sort of things she likes, but I have the feeling that if I were to buy her a DVD or a CD or a book or something, it wouldn't be as thoughtful as perhaps it could have been.

EDIT: And I dunno what her favorite perfume is! But good suggestions...thanks! ^_^

Amy had very good ideas. Are you crafty, can you draw/paint, can you write well, etc.? Perhaps you could use those talents towards a gift. Like draw her a picture-if you don't know of what, I would suggest a flower or landscape of some sort. Um, with the writing, a heartfelt letter or poem maybe. You could write down some of your favorite things about her. Or even give her a list of some meaningful Bible verses to you. Craftiness, if you are crafty, well there are so many directions you can go in. Decorate a picture frame and put your pic in it or even make her a blanket or pillow, if you know how to. I don't even know how to do that, but my best friend's ex-boyfriend made her both a no-sew blanket and pillow one time that really made her feel special.

There are so many things you can do, if you really think about it. Also, think back to your past conversations. What kind of things has she ever mentioned she really likes or would like to have? If you've ever seen her room, have you noticed that she collects anything? Maybe you could add to her collection, like I collect things to do with frogs, and my boyfriend once gave me a frog suncatcher, and also a stuffed one.

So there are some ideas from me!

Well, the problem is I do not have time to compose a song on the guitar or write lyrics, but the picture frame idea seems like a really good one... hmm some things to think about. :D I'm not very crafty, but I can program a database in visual basics really well! :sorry: I can also play guitar like a pro.

Thanks! I think when you're considering a gift for a person, your mind goes blank because you're trying to do too many things at one time. Asking for help is generally the best way to sort it out.

well you said your goal was to get her an uber sweet fuzzy gift, right? that bear is adorable and it's a good start :) does she like stuffed animals? if not, i'd say nix the bear. just a warning :)

an easy project for someone not so crafty (like myself) is making a fleece throw blanket for her. I did this last year for my SO's Christmas gift. It went over great and it was absolutely personal since I knew his fav colors and made it myself.
You buy a few yards of fleece fabric at any local fabric store, even a Wal-Mart (but their selection isn't great). I bought two pieces of the same size but of different, complimentary colors. you can also get a patterned fabric of course and maybe pair it with a solid that matches.
anyway, I'd recommend three yards (big enough to fully cover a person. use yourself as a model if you need to since it'd be fun to share the blanket with her *nudge wink*.
All it takes is a sharp pair of scissors. line up the two pieces of fabric back to back and make sure they're even. don't stretch them out too far because once you tie them together, they pull and bubble.

cut 3-6 inch strips of both fabrics all along all four edges (cut them at the same time to make this a perfect match) and then tie the strips of both pieces together. this makes it so you don't have to sew anything (i HATE sewing) and it's fast and extra warm (always cozy).

i'm not crafty at all, but this is a sure-fire way to make something for someone, have it be not-too-frilly and not-too-masculine all at once... and who doesn't want an excuse to cuddle?

Whoa... that's a good idea!

As far as something warm, fuzzy and cute, I think the bear is a good idea.....it seems as if it would remind her of you, and I imagine thats sort of what you're going for. If she likes you, she'd like it.
Yep, you hit the nail on the head. I don't want to buy her a gift that she would look at and associate any other feelings but 'warm, fuzzy, and cute' with, and have it remind her of me, all at the same time. ^_^

Since you said, cute, fuzzy, sweet....I suggest thinking back to what animal she seems to like the most. The one that shows up in pictures on her wall, the one that might be a pocket of a favorite shirt, the one that makes her stop and say "awww! That's so cute" at the mall. Ask her best friend if you really must.
Then head to a toy store with a terrific selection of stuffed animals and get a female associate to help you pick out a "cute, fuzzy, sweet" animal. This suggestion will only work if you see your gf as the type who would love to cuddle up with an animal that you picked out for her based on what she likes.

I think that's perhaps a good suggestion - the reason I had the bear picked out that I posted a picture of earlier is because she loves things that have a Scottish flavor to them, and she has a huge selection of stuffed animals of all sorts. The bear in that picture costs like 145$ though... So I'm going to have to set up a fund to buy it, if it's what I get her. LOL
