  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It will remind the Protestant parents that even the first Protestants, whilst not using the Apocrypha (or Deuterocanon) as Scripture, didn't dare completely remove those books eg. in the KJV.

I though the same.

A Cambridge University Press AV 1611 replica complete with the Deuterocanon!

I know as an ex-protestant I would be looking that Bible over before I would a figurine. We always have our noses stuck in the Bible & one from a Catholic??

Take a walk through a protestant Christian bookstore if you want to see stuff! They are all over it with the Christian decor.

I'm sure the last thing Karin wants to do is appear to be trying to convert her niece the day of her baptism.

If I'm not mistaken she just wants something with Catholic flair but not too over the top.

Well besides it size... :D

Prots like the empty cross much better than Jesus on it. Emphasises the resurrrection to them. Most aren't too cracked on the crucifix. Most of their Churches have the empty cross.

Michie was right about what I was trying to do.....My niece loves to play basketball so I found a St. Christopher medal with a little girl playing basketball. I'm having it engraved on the back with her name, the date she's baptized and that it's from me. Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I loved the pictures of all the things you suggested....WA, I might see if I can find the one you posted for myself! :)

Hahah what size? It looks like an average sized crucifix to me haha. Yeah I don't know many prots with a crucifix. I'm thinking of going to my calvinist church with a papal crucifix....:p

I'll tel lthem I got it from my mom who got one from the Pope herself when she went to Rome...what she saw him and has a video of him its probable...

oh yeah! they'd love her at the calvinist church! ^_^
Yeah they'd love me!

Well at least they won't miss me when I have to leave because I'm going to try to start going to Mass soon and I'll be always going when I convert. Besides for Calvinists they are kinda liberal on some subjects the Catholic Church won't bend on so I can feel comfortable in that.
