  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok so here I am five days before Christmas trying to shop for a white elephant exchange my family decided to do this year. My sister's calling it a "your favorite things" exchange (kinda like Oprah) where we gift something we have that we really like (not the one we have but buy another one like it to give). Problem is I don't do small things or knick knacks really, so I got nothing. I was hoping to find something Catholic but unconventional (as in, NOT a rosary, statue, icon, devotional book, etc) since my wife, kids and I are the only Catholics.

That said I'm trying to reel my family into the faith by exposing them to more Catholic stuff so I wanna find something that's useful and applicable to them but also might pique their curiosity about the faith.

If ya have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it!
