The "sinner's prayer" really doesn't actually save anyone.

The sacrifice of Christ at Calvary is what saves us. It is sufficient to cover all our sins.
The moment we place our trust in Him and the Holy Spirit changes us within, we are new creatures. Our sin is forgiven. What point is there in going back and trying to remember our individual sins. God doesn't remember them, why should we?

Right, but you still have to confess to God that you are a sinner and that you can't remember all the sins you commited, and that you know Jesus' death can cleanse you of sin and that you want God's forgiveness and that you accept Jesus Christ into your life. And that Jesus died so you could be forgiven.

Ain't that the truth? :) What an amazing gift Jesus has given us!
