  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you going to see the new Ghostbusters film?

How do you feel about the controversy surrounding the film? Regarding the female Ghostbusters and the perceived misogyny surrounding the film?

I might watch it if it ever appears on Netflix.

Personally I thought the trailer was a little funny. The original Ghostbuster movie was not that funny itself, and I think this new movie will not be better or worse. The sassy black character will probably be the true star of the film.

I don't think most of the haters of the film are misogynists though.

I don't think it needed to be remade. I think it speaks more of the laziness and uncreative souls of Hollywood that they have to reboot a tired movie with an all female cast instead of writing new and creative material that is for strong female leads. But, if it brings back ecto coolers and sass then I'm all for it.

I like the original movies and the cartoon. I have not gone out to watch a movie in years. there is a chance I would maybe watch it if I stumble upon it one day. if it's good then it's good.

it does not really seem to have the same tone as the original movies (definitely not the first one)

the feeling of the first one was that while the characters might be exaggerated a bit, they were all relatable
this new movie seems more like caricatures rather then simple exaggerations

also I am tired of Hollywood trying to make Melissa McCarthy a star
she has a successful sitcom and has been in a few good movies, that does not mean she has some big box office pull

bridesmaids was really the only good movie I can think of her being in, and she was not even the star of that

How do you feel about the dreamy Chris Hemsworth being in the film? Lol.

I think people just want to hate it because they have such fond memories of the original, and don't think it should touched upon unless it has the same actors. The trailer got to many dislikes, but when I went to see Central Intelligence the other day in a packed theater, they showed the new Ghost Busters trailer and there was a very positive reaction.

I'll never watch it though :p

No way, its bunk, no Bill Murray. can't have Ghostbusters without Bill.

This.

Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig can be funny, but I really dislike anytime that known male roles are converted into female roles. Am not interested in the slightest.

I have mixed feelings.

I'm quite attached to the older, original one and feel that there was no need whatsoever to reboot it.

On the other hand...I am curious how they pull off the all female cast...and it does look a little entertaining.

Either way, I have a feeling I will see it because my one girlfriend is all excited about it and wants to go. Hey, if I can get a nice girl's night out out of it, I'll go. :ok:

According to Buzzfeed people should watch the movie as many times as they can in the movie theater to ward off the neck bearded haters. Make this thing more successful than James Cameron's Avatar. Lol.

I don't like most movies these days because they all are nothing but SJW activism like this new Ghostbusters.

If you don't cash in your life savings to see this movie multiple times you're a misogynist.
