  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you guys think? I've only seen the trailer (check it out on Yahoo movies if you're interested...) and haven't actually seen the first one but it seems like an interesting, if rather unusual concept... doesn't exactly sound as though God would approve though... anyone seen it? Whats the verdict? Good, bad, okay????

ok i just took a look at the trailor and it looks pretty sick. and when i say sick i mean pretty cool. it looks like its going to have some good action coupled with an interesting storyline. im a little surprised that they made it PG-13 though since the first one was, I think, Rated R. either way its seems that this second installment of Ghost In The Shell is going to be mind captivating.

Well, the first one did have an awful lot of Major Kusanagi running around in nothing but panties and a gun holster. I have heard that this story is centered around Batou, so maybe her absence helped to turn the nudity levels down? I can't think of any other reason.

hey all, (woots for 1st post)

I've seen both movies and the first series of GITS. the movies i believe are M15+.

Whilst at first glance the movies are not anti-Christian, there are a few themes explored that may offend you.

For example, the term 'ghost' in the title referrs to the idea of soul. In the GITS future, whilst humans cannot create 'ghosts', they are able to make increasingly more accurate copies. The implication of man trying to become God is explored in depth in the OVAs but not in Innocence the movie.

The two movies themselves are primarily concerned with the devision between human life and artificial intelligence. When this devision blurrs with the advancement of technology, the main characters come to question their own 'humanity'. The surrealistic, futuristic style of the movies makes it clear that this is an artistic exploration of ideas -- a remote satire at most. If you were fine with the matrix, this shouldn't go down too hard (well. ^^ on the 2nd take anyways)

Having said that, GITS presents what seems to be a godless world. Humans have become lost, often without purpose or identity.

enjoy the mind wrap ppls.
