  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My bf and I have been dating for (...counting...) about 7 months, and I am thinking I'd like to do some sort of "getting to know each other better" type devotion book or other such activity. I'm basically looking for suggestions of books that do *not* focus on "this is your future husband" (or wife), but do focus on getting to know one another better. I have looked at some books, but they either seem geared to teenagers, or to engaged couples. Are there any for the in-between stage ppl?!

I think she means that such a book is not appropriate for where they are at in their relationship. Me and my girlfriend are in a similar place. Serious, but not yet ready for that stage in the relationship. Yeah I want things to go that direction, but I know they are not there.

For what it is worth we looked at all the devotionals they had at our local bookstore and picked "Songs 4 Worship presents Open the Eyes of My heart". We start going through it tommorow. We just picked it up this morning.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want a book or devotional that considers your boyfriend your future husband? Or am I just reading that wrong?
Like silentpoet said... it's not that marriage is not a possibility... it would be great if it did happen at some point. But, most of the devotion books for couples that I've looked at just seem to be farther along in the relationship than I feel we are at the moment. Does that make sense?

Silentpoet- let me know how that book works out for you. I didn't know Songs 4 Worship had devotional books, but I love that song!
