• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. It's not easy. Are you in therapy?
I believe at least for me the days get better, then their is a trigger and the ""feeling"" of fat overtakes me! So I guess maybe it does get better?
That probably did not help! Sorry

I had the opposite problem - thought I was too skinny so ate like a horse lifted weights and did steroids ...
We called the syndrom 'bigorexia' ...

I never went to counselling ... just tried to stop caring what anyone else thought of my appearance ... if they think I'm skinny/weak now I try not to let it bother me and stay confident in myself

That is what I try to do, but I feel like such an outcast. My family is all healthy and skinny and then there's me. It just gets to me sometimes.
I honestly believe the main thing you need is confidence and just believing in yourself not necessarily actual phsycial results.
But I can get into great detail if you are interested in this -- I used to bodybuild ... but you can EAT in such a way to shed body fat and still be quite healthy.
It is cutting down on useless carbohydrates. Focus on 2 things and 2 things only in each meal -- many small meals per day like maybe 6 meals every 3 hours.
1-protein (meat/fish/eggs) 2-vegetables.
Cut back on or eliminate 1-white bread 2-white potatoe 3-white rice 4-any simple carb (pop, potatoes chips, junk food ...)
I have written a 5 page document on eating a 'ketogenic' diet after years of reading and researching (and what I and most other bodybuilders) do to 'get cut'.
If you want to learn more about eating 'lean' let me know ...

Because this is an eating disorder forum, their are rules to replying, and numbers are one of them. So they automatically get replaced!

If you go to the top of the page you will see the guidelines for posting hope that helps

why did it replace all the numbers I typed with the # symbol !?!??

Must be a lonely feeling to be ignored by the ones you love and that love you. Maybe they are afraid if they say something then it makes it real for "them"
I know my husband never said anything which made me feel like he didn't care. But the few times he did I was a monster!

Maybe then your trying to become invisible so you can be noticed?
Just a thought!

I'm not in therapy anymore. I have been to 7 different counselors and none of them really helped. My family has no idea about my situation. The are oblivious. They Kind of just ignore me so I feel like I'm not good enough. I guess that doesn't help anything.
