You're NEVER too old to dance! Plus, you're only 28, that's not old! I started taking ballet, tap, hip hop, and bellydance classes last year. I've only stuck with bellydance, but in all of my classes there were ladies who were in their 30s and 40s, one lady was even in her 50s. If it's something you enjoy, don't let age stop you! Have fun!

I am in the exact same situation, I am 27 and LOVE music and always had a desire to dance. I recently started Jazzercise...which is not dance however it keeps me active and teaches me a few basic dance moves. I really want to join a class but I am terrified that I will be an "old lady" in a class of 5 yr olds!! :sigh:

I started ballet classes when I was 38. Too late to become world class, but in plenty of time to develope grace and poise and a dance vocabulary that I now incorporate with interpretive worship dance and davidic style dancing. Many of the hebrew dance steps used in the davidic dance style are just ballet steps renamed.....and all of the balance principles translate nicely into other forums.

Age does not matter.....you use what you have at the moment and do what you can do.

Greetings all you dancers out there. Got a question, I am kind of getting on up there in age, but have always desired to dance. I always wanted to take Jazz/Tap. What form of dancing would you suggest that would be easy to learn for a "winter chicken?" ;)
You are definitely not too old to learn how to dance. At my daughter's dance studio I saw about 60-year-old lady teaching tap to bunch of ladies her age. It looked like they had a whole lot of fun. Hip hop or ballroom class would be fun.
I have a couple of hip hop praise dance instruction videos from Worship Steps. They say that their non-professional dancers are ages 11 - 46! Check out the video dance clips here or click the image below.

Start dancing, it is never too late!

Blessings

Hi,
I'm 67 and have danced since I was 3. Now I dance to the Lord.
Messianic dance can be learned and done by all ages. Oh how I wish all God's children would have the opportunity to participate.
In the end times, Zech.14 says that all nations will come up to Jerusalem to worship the Lord during the Feast of Tabernacles, a commanded time of rejoicing. We will sing and dance to "Come Let Us Go Up". It's wonderful!
Shalom,
Ruth

I read this:
I am kind of getting on up there in age
And started to wonder hmm... now what can a 60 year old do in a form of dance to progressively get to the most satisfactory results given the age. Then I notice that you are only 29. Goodness! You are young enough to start begginer's ballet if you were passionate about it. So beginner Jazz is as easy as it gets for 29 year olds. (I knew some of that age who sped their progress during their first years with ballet)

I agree you are never too old to dance.
In 2000 I started dance with our worship dance group and then I think about 4 years ago started ballet (never took ballet classes when younger!!). There are about 4/5 ladies in my class that are older than me.
It is hard work and doesn't come as easy as it would if you were little, but it is worth it if that is what you want.
