I am getting a tattoo to permanently mark my faith onto me...it will be a cross with a laurel and a rose wrapped around it (my daughters name is laura rose)
but i would like to put a bible verse underneath (not the whole thing, just the chapter and verse like John 3:16)
anyone have any suggestions...i would love something about mother and child if there is one...

I've got nothing against tattoos, but those things are expensive. Maybe you should stick the money in a cookie jar or something for the next time you don't have grocery money to feed your child with (I'm referring to your 'This is going to get extremely personal' thread over in the Finances forum).

I wish there were a way to make this not sound like a rebuke, because you seem like a really nice girl, but I can't figure out a way to put it gently. You need to establish some financial stability in the life of your daughter and yourself, and spending every paycheck down to the last dollar isn't the way to do that (and it might just aggravate your mother for you to be blowing money on stuff when she was just buying you groceries). Maybe you can start a consistent savings plan for a contingency fund, and then put away a small portion of that money (like 10-15%) for fun stuff.

That's awesome :), sorry if my previous post brought you down.

Sounds like you have a really cool mom. As far as verses go, I'm not sure. 'Spare the rod, spoil the child'? No...

"...in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children"? No....

You might want to check out the story of Ruth and Naomi for verses, that's a pretty good mother/daughter(in-law) story.

before you have it done, read Leviticus 19:28 to get Gods opinion of tattos.
you shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you:I am the Lord.
Secretdawn appears to be Christian, not Jewish. Seems she's covered by Christ, not holy code.

a christian is covered by grace.,and we are not under the law.however the old testment is still valid as Gods word and if God disapproves of tattoos that is a valid reason to not be tattooed.the mark of the beast 666 may be a visible tattoo.as we near the end of the church age tattoos are being accepted by all who are are walking in the flesh.

i am not sure where this is, but the thing that made me realize that, at least for me, tattoos are acceptable was where it says "honor God with your body" i think it is after "your body is a temple"...i am getting this tattoo to honor god and my child, which I believe He would approve of and be happy about...but i wasn't trying to have a discussion...i am just looking for some good verses to choose from.

I guess it depends on some of YOUR favorite verses. Since your including your child how about some of the verses pertaining to children?

Here's one of my favorites :
Mark 10:15
"Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not recieve the kingdom of God like a little child will not enter it."

Ps 131:2 - Show Context Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me. Ec 11:5 - Show Context As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything. Mt 1:23 - Show Context "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us." Mt 18:4 - Show Context Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Mt 18:5 - Show Context Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.Lu 9:48 - Show Context and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great."
I did a search for 'child' at www.Crosswalk.com. Maybe you can get some ideas from there if these are not what you're looking for.

Love, Heather

roadie, if a tattoo is the mark of the beast, then i know some of the most sincere as possible Christian who are going to hell,

thats like saying the world trade center was a prophecy from the bible, and that america is the power from the west or whatever the word usage is in revelation

Hope these help
Jewel

1 Thessalonians 2:7
As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you, but we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children.

Matthew 21:16
"Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, " 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?"

1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

ooo, good luck, Secret Dawn!!! :) I think that if someone were to have a tattoo, it had better have some huge meaning to them - faith and family, two good good things to dedicate a tattoo to. Let us know how it goes! I dont know if this is your first, but dont worry about the pain. they don't hurt that bad, it just feels like little scratches.
Oh, and Sowellfan, they're not that expensive.

i wouldn't hold anything against u actually getting the tattoo, specially a meaningful one.

Things which i would consider before getting it done.

1. What do you think Laura is gonna think of it?
I would preffer my mother not to have it, i know she loves me already, a tattoo of my name aint gonna prove it, i'll just think she was a wild one in her younger days, probably would use that against her too, when i wanted to rebel!

2. Do you think it will be pretty?
I dont think tattoo's make a lady look at all prettier! Just worse!

well i think it would be a little embarrassing if it had her name...which is why i am using the flowers that make up her name...more discreat..and it will be on my hip or lower back, which would only show in a bathing suit, anywhere else i think is too out there...
i do think it will be pretty, but it won't make me prettier...and i want to show my devotion to the Lord and to her...i wouldn't mind if she wanted to get a tattoo when she is 18...as long as it had a very real and personal meaning...
