Some people seem to have built a religion around Pentecost. They teach that all who are filled with the spirit will speak in tongues, contrary to what Paul teaches. They seem to have put more value on miracles than other things like love. Paul taught much more on love than miracles, he taught more on spiritualism than spiritual gifts. Even if i never had the gift of healing, prophecy or tongues i would be content to just be able to rule my spirit with love and humility. That to me is so great a gift that it puts joy in my heart just thinking about it.

It's significance is not in tongues, but in the coming of the Spirit to indwell, lead and empower Christians.

I think it would be great if Pentecost were still going on - but I don't see that happening.

And those who claim the gift of tongues in modern times seem to be describing a "gift" never mentioned in the Bible except that the "name" is the same as one of the genuine gifts mentioned in the Bible.

The supernatural gifts of 1Cor 12 are very very rare in modern times.

in Christ,

Bob

But Bob, that's the whole point.
It is still going on every single day. Every time a person gets saved he/she gets the indwelling of The Holy Spirit. Tongues or not.

thought that sequence started from the foundation of the world ... (Rev. 13:8)

Turns out - Christ was not bleeding or sweating great drops of blood before that Thursday night.

But as you point out - He knew of this event from all eternity past.

in Christ,

Bob

Someone asked for a list of books by Ellen White that represent inspired writing -- the OP gives a perfect example of one such book. in this case giving details about the last week of Christ's life on earth prior to crucifixion.

Of course 1 Cor 12, 1Cor 14:1, 1Thess 5, Numbers 12:6 approves of God's prophets - and so does Christ in Matt 23.
