CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I used to feel the same way. I didn't like to be judged based on it. It's a hinderance to valuable discussion. But...after awhile...I guess...I just thought...I shouldn't be ashamed of who I am and I should let other peoples hang ups about it be their problem...not mine.
I would like to know. Because I'm curious. But, if you really would rather not say, I won't like you any less. You're fantabulous dahling. Exactly the type of multifacited, multilayered, "real" person I love getting to talk to on the internet.

OK, I'll tell you... I'm a male. But I'm a walking contradiction of all stereotypes, especially the ones about gender!
I think that my gender is only one of the attributes of my body, just like for example hair color... It doesn't define what kind of person I am.

People have mistaken me as male on the internet on more than one occasion. So, I'm a little familiar with gender stereotypical expectations...specifically in theological debate sites. If I don't tell people what gender I am, they always assume I'm male. I used to withhold that information on purpose...just because it was so amusing to watch how people would treat me differently. But, in actuality It's kind of insulting to females IMO. It's as if because I'm well read and seasoned on some things, and can formulate and articulate a convincing argument that has on more than one occasion made people think about things in a different light... I couldn't possibly be female.
Anyway...Starlight... I'm glad that you actually talk about things that have some tangible depth. I like to look at things with a microscope and alternate vantage points myself. And I think the fact that I allow for the very real possibility that I not only may not be right or wrong, but that there in fact may be multiple rights and wrongs to every profound question that can be conceived of...it makes for real fulfillment to encounter someone like you. You're a thinker, a ponderer, an inquirer. And in my experience...that's not all that common.
