Get behind me Satan! -- really??????

I have heard a few pastors share with their flock that when Satan is attacking to tell Satan to "get behind me Satan."

Really ???????
Where does this come from ?????
Seems that the Bible states that
Satan comes to seek and destroy???
Do I or we have the power to
command Satan to do anything???

Satan is a wimp! I donned the full armor of God and Satan threw a fiery dart at me. It was actually a child's sparkler and it didn't even stick!

Additionally, yes anyone who is saved has the ability to fight against satan because of The Spirit on the inside. "great is he that is in me then he that is in the world", when christ is in you...and christ>Satan then yeah.

That's how The saints during the time of the first churches were casting out demons and stuff because of what they had in them, power from on high.

The world system is also defeated by Christ because He says to us fear not, for I have overcome the world. But it sure can sting us in our flesh.

When I find myself explaining my actions to a 'someone' who seems to be nit-picking my every thought, I tend to say, "Hey, wait a minue! Abba never talks to me like that, and I never feel defensive." At which point I say, "Get thee behind me Satan, you have no rights in me. Get out, in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach!"

And the nit-picking stops.

but
telling Satan to get behind me is ridicules.

i'll watch that vid you have there also also keep in mind JESUS quoted verses against satan...including the one here I gave to you.

It's basically a re quoted phrase found in deuteronomy .

OK I agree wtih teh video to a degree...but what you need to understand and he needs to understand.


Is the bible says to walk in Spirit and in Truth for the reason he mentions...truth alone doesn't scare the devil..

But Spirit alone doesn't either.

Yes he knows bible verses...just like he knew the one here that JESUS referenced from the OT, but if you speak it with the Spirit on the inside (JESUS=fullness of Godhead) the bible verses carry authority.

i've dealt with demonic possession at my church and quoting verses from time to time while praying against the demon causes it to come out of the individual...this isn't just me going off the word...this is me going off experience and the word.


Spirit+truth= victory not one or the other. Praying with memorized bible verses in the prayer helps a lot to and confirms what you're saying.


Also You gotta know what the word is...

The word=very thoughts of God.

When you read it you are reading of him, "let this mind be in you which was also in christ JESUS", and what better way to do that then the Word of God?

No you of yourself have no power over satan. But Lord Jesus has given believers His authority to command him. We have His power of attorney in His name. That is why we say in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth come out, or get behind me, or,in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth go to the pit. It is not our own authority. The authority is of the Lord Jesus. Scripture tell us to resist the devil and he will flee.
