  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Get Back Up!
Friday February 25, 2011

“4“Say to them, ‘This is what the LORD says:
“‘When men fall down, do they not get up?
When a man turns away, does he not return?
5Why then have these people turned away?
Why does Jerusalem always turn away?
They cling to deceit;
they refuse to return.
6I have listened attentively,
but they do not say what is right.
No one repents of his wickedness,
saying, “What have I done?”
Each pursues his own course
like a horse charging into battle.” (Jer 8: 4-6)

The people of Judah fell into sin and refused to repent. We all fall sometimes, but we must repent to restore our relationships with God. Let’s not be like the people of Judah who were unrepentant. Whoever chooses wickedness over God will suffer His wrath.

“9The wise will be put to shame;
they will be dismayed and trapped.
Since they have rejected the word of the LORD,
what kind of wisdom do they have?
10Therefore I will give their wives to other men
and their fields to new owners.
From the least to the greatest,
all are greedy for gain;
prophets and priests alike,
all practice deceit.”

I pray that God will make me as passionate as Jeremiah was about those who have fallen into sin and refuse to get up. I pray this not only for myself, but for all of the Lord’s servants! Jeremiah delivered some very powerful messages to the people of Judah because He knew what fate awaited them and He mourned for them! “Lord, help me and your other servants to sacrifice all that is temporal for the glory of the Lord so that we may be used of you to build your Kingdom. I pray that we will maintain an eternal perspective and not be distracted by all that is going on in our own lives. Amen!”

“21Since my people are crushed, I am crushed;
I mourn, and horror grips me.”
