  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Clearly the female officer's suspicions were not groundless, then.

I guess we need to set up a network of restaurants and diners with "cops are welcome" signs, and give the men and women in blue a safe place to eat.

If you're going to automatically side against the fast food place because of some other bad fast food places actions, then don't be complaining that cops are being thought badly of because of the actions of a few bad cops.

Her muffin was late, her paranoia is similar to the distaste she feels she is inappropriately on the receiving end of.

How is that the same? This man was on the job making deliveries when two white men approached him and started harassing him, blocking his vehicle and even calling the police on him.

It isn't the same...in fact, I'd say they're pretty different other than both of them being on the job. The main differences are that I've heard of cops getting sick....sometimes seriously, because people tampered with their food. I've never heard of a delivery driver getting beat up by a HOA. The other big difference is it appears as if the delivery driver could have avoided the situation by answering a couple of simple questions....the cop can only hope that her food isn't tampered with.

I don't. Nor can you pretend to know that isn't the case.

You clearly did. I didn't make assumptions about the guy's entire life based on the color of his skin so don't put this on me.

I'm just a 54 year old white male who has no clue what it's like to be asked "what are you doing here?

Oh well, let me tell you then...

I was maybe 16 or 17 going to play Tekken 3 at my friend Marcus' house in south central Akron. The street was pretty full and there was no room in his driveway so I parked on a side street maybe 3 houses away.

I stastar walking to his house and 3 black guys literally ran up on me from across the street. They surrounded me and I can't repeat everything they said but it wasn't friendly and I was definitely informed I don't belong there. I tried to put on a tough face, but I was pretty scared and a little confused. All 3 looked to be in their early 20s and were bigger than me. Eventually I managed to explain where I was going and that I knew Marcus...and they let me go.

I was a little shook up and I told my friend Marcus about it and he just laughed. I asked what it was about, and he explained that they were probably just going to rob me but didn't because I knew him. I thought it was funny that he saw being robbed as no big deal. I asked him if my car was ok where it was....he thought about it....then moved a car into his garage so I could park in his driveway. He walked with me to the car and got in even though we were just driving 3 houses down the street.

I'd describe the experience as unpleasant....but I don't recall crying over it. Perhaps I would have been more scared if they were from the local homeowner's association lol.

NYPD has already confirmed that nobody tried to poison their officers..... Officer Stacey had a meltdown over unfounded suspicion, the man Travis was deeply hurt and offended after being persecuted by the Neighborhood Watch.

I don't think it's really about being on anyone's side. I don't think anyone is actually accusing McDonald's of any wrongdoing.

It's really just people either sympathizing with her....or shaming and criticizing her for sharing a moment of vulnerability. Any cop reading those kind of responses is probably going to think this is why they should never show any weakness to the public.

I can't even say I don't understand it....I totally do. Police are 1 of maybe 3 groups of people that you're totally allowed to hate on in our society.

She seemed to think so. Enough to break down in tears over it.

I feel quite sad for her but she's crying because some of her stress is from imagined sources.

Which is part of the tragedy I suppose.

I was pointing out that thinking that everyone hates you because you are a cop is a pretty similar idea to hating cops in general because some of them take actions you don't agree with. They are problematic over-generalizations.

It's not really usual for anyone to break down crying in public, let alone a police officer over a breakfast muffin.

I don't actually think it is wise to break down in pubic over a breakfast muffin.

Wow....well I guess getting food that has accidentally been poisoned or is concealing razor blades is a real problem that NYPD cops face.

Here's a guy with herpes spitting in a cop's food...this one was on camera so my guess is that the accident angle won't play.

This Fast Food Employee Was Arrested For Spitting In A Cop’s Burger, But That’s Not The Worst Thing

How many of these would you like to see?

I didn’t ask to see any of them. We are talking about this specific incident, where the officer decided to post this video in order to gain sympathy, but instead more people are worried about her mental state.

...nor post a video of it - she may regret that move after a night's sleep.

Oh no, imagine living in a society where people judge based on your skin color as opposed to the behavior of your organization. She simply wants things to return back to the way they used to be, but last I checked Breonna Taylor was murdered with impunity and you weren't speaking out.

Well humor me here for a moment...

Let's imagine that this is a black man crying because he's afraid McDonald's employees are messing with his food because he's black....

Do you think we'd have all these posters shaming him for it?

Well you did give the impression that you weren't aware that people mess with cops' food.

Right...because they don't see cops as human. If a cop shows a moment of vulnerability or fear or concern....they're suddenly deemed unfit for the job. It doesn't matter if it's a valid concern compounded by all the hate directed at cops these days....she showed weakness so she shouldn't be a cop.

You'd think it was so difficult for people to have a little sympathy.

Not sure what you mean by this....

Well, "I'm glad" = I am happy.

"We" here is referring to American society, so it's kind of a collective pronoun.

"Don't arm delivery drivers" as in "our tax dollars don't pay for distributing firearms to people who deliver packages for a living."

(Now, I'm sure there are a lot of drivers who arm themselves, but they do it on their own dime... that's the Second Amendment for you.)

Generally speaking, when a person has an emotional breakdown, it's usually for the best (for themselves and for everyone else in the vicinity) that they not have quick access to firearms...

...don't you think?

The difference is he can’t take off his skin color. He didn’t choose to be black. That woman can take off her uniform, she chose to be an officer.

There’s a difference between vulnerability/concern and entitlement/paranoia.
