CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pull the other one. There are some idiots out there, who are idiots even by creationist standards, but if you describe yourself as a Christian seeker, you are not one of them.

Out of curiosity, how do you explain space travel? I recall we had someone a number of years back try to justify geocentrism via noninertial reference frames, but as he worked through it, he realized that approach broke down into nonsense as any arbitrary point could be called the "center" of any system.

I disagree with the good professor: the Earth is not an inertial reference frame. An inertial reference frame positioned on Earth would see the planet begin to move away as it accelerates around the Sun. One can create a non-inertial frame, of course, but that's like getting on a merry-go-round and declaring that the entire universe is revolving around you.
Gravitation and relativity do not imply heliocentrism and geocentrism are equivalent since acceleration is not relative.
Question: how 'hard' is your geocentrism? That is, do you believe the Earth rotates, or that the celestial sphere rotates around us?
Question: why are you a geocentrism? What prompted this conclusion? Religion? Science? Punk rebellion against The System?

It isn't the first time I have seen a creationist try to use that. It might even be the same creationist. At the time George Ellis was probably indulging in a little bit of philosophy, unaware that some creationists would have their ears pricked up.
The point is not that it would be a good idea to do it, but that it could be done.
