Genesis Chapter One verses 1-3

I need to compare and contrast 4 versions: nrsv, gnb, njps and niv, and I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

http://www.breslov.com/bible/ has the JPS version. I can't find the NJPS online anywhere though.

It's a jewish translation.

I have them. I'm just after anyones ideas about the verses really. What they indicate. What I need to do is compare and contrast.

I'll post them.

NRSV:

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

NIV:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

Good News:

In the beginning, when God created the universe, the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God was moving over the water. Then God commanded, 'Let there be light'-and light appeared.

NJPS:

When God began to create heaven and earth-the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the face of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water - God said, 'Let there be light'; and there was light.
