  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm just looking for some clarification on this verse...
Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do?

Here's the verse in context...

16 When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way. 17 Then the LORD said, "Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? 18 Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. 19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

I just dont understand why God was undecided about something? Could someone please explain this verse to me?

I dont think he was undecided, I think he was asking Abraham if he wanted to know what God was about to do.
I agree with that. You have to keep in mind that Abraham's nephew Lot was living in one of the cities God was about to destroy. I think God knew how Abraham would react and wanted to see if Abraham really wanted to know His plan. He knew Abraham would want Lot spared, and that's why Abraham started negotiating with God.

Lot didn't find favor in God's sight, but God spared him because of Abraham's faith.
