• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I would recommend finding a good therapist in your area to help you with what you are going through. I would also consult with a doctor, since you say you have an eating disorder. Those cause serious medical problems if left untreated.

There are often free or reduced cost clinics in major cities (and some smaller ones) if money is an issue.

You should really get your eating disorder under control with the help of both of the above as soon as possible.

A doctor, nutritionist or some time with a personal trainer can help you with obesity, depending on exactly what the cause is.

I'm sorry you didn't get a response sooner. Some areas of the forums don't always get the attention they deserve.

This is exactly the advice I'd give as well. I went through years of an unexpected and difficult bout with depression and my counselor helped me tremendously. I still have problems as the issue is genetic but the help I received gave me tools to deal with my anxiety and my depression rarely surfaces and is mild. It's a struggle and going it alone is impossible. Good advice.

If you have confidence in a really caring physician, then talk openly with him about your obesity, depression, etc. As to your self-image you can trust the Lord Jesus for His care always. Make Him your best Friend and lord of your life, and He will renew you, guide, and keep you going on well. He truly cares for His own disciples. I have learned that over 60 years walking with Him. Look up always, for God cares always!

I can't say I'm familiar with the UK health system. I'm not sure how helpful I would be in trying to help you find services. I will yield to people more familiar with the requirements and available services.

I hope you can get the help you need soon.
