thnx locket and crossrunner ^^

Well I saw a couple of other posts on homosexuality in the Christian forums. And basically ppl who identify as Christians seem to hold the conviction that God holds homosexuality in comtempt, that it is a sin.

My personal views are somewhat closer to that of that of the Metropolitan Community Church. Please read some of their positions here :

Do I still call myself Christian if I belong to that church?

Some Christians believe it's a sin to eat meat during the first week of Lent. The vast majority of Christians don't consider it a sin, and call themselves Christian anyway.

Some Christians believe it's a sin to deny the Pope's authority over the Church. Somewhat more than half of all Christians deny the Pope's authority, and call themselves Christian anyway.

Some Christians believe it's a sin to deny the inerrancy of the Bible. Somewhat more than half of all Christians deny the doctrine of inerrancy, and call themselves Christian anyway.

Some Christians believe divorce is a sin. Millions of Christians believe that whether or not divorce is a sin depends on the circumstances surrounding it, that in many circumstances it's not a sin -- and call themselves Christian anyway.

Some Christians believe homosexuality is a sin. Some don't, and call themselves Christian anyway.

Do you believe that, in the person of Jesus Christ, God reached out to humanity to close the gulf of sin between humanity and god's self, that in the person of Jesus Christ God calls you to repent of whatever sin does separate you from God, and to believe in this good news? Then you are a Christian. All the rest is details.

Pm that was confusing.

I believe it is a sin just because I've read it in the Bible that it's wrong. Like white lies and stealing and such. It's not like any sin is worse in God's eyes. They're all jsut as bad.
So when I lie to my mom I'm in trouble jsut as much as any murderer. Sin, there aren't levels of hell for different kinds of sin.

Woah, jsut got off track with that. Well you might want to try and read 1st Corinthians. Chapter 6 I believe.

We do not have to agree on everything to be brothers and sisters in Christ. We just need to "repent and believe the Gospel". That Gospel, that good news, is that Christ has reconciled us to God.

wow thnx pm, I think I got your point. According to that, I consider myself a Christian who's very confused by the details.

My best friend since high school (=junior high in USA) is an Anglican like you. I'm not sure what the differences are between Anglicans and Christians but I've always thought of her as an epitome of the kind, altruist, -love thy neighbour- message of Jesus. People like her help me believe in God, without her even trying to.

Its not up to me as to your state as a Christian. That is totally between you and God. We are not to judge one another's salvation.
What I can tell you is that no matter what your lifestyle may be, Jesus still loves you and He always will...and because He loves you, so do I.
I would urge you to continue to seek God as I can see that you are earnestly seeking Him. It honors God that you are interested in pleasing Him and having a relationship with Him. Search the scriptures that pertain to your struggle, pray to God for wisdom concerning them.
I will be your unconditional friend. I'm here to minister and encourage. Not to judge.

God bless you dear one.

Well, your authority needs to be God's word. If it doesn't come from Him, you can't trust it to be true. And since He is the One who holds our futures in His hands, it's important to consider that the only authority on God is God, and the word He proclaims to be His.

Blessings to you.

Hi Major and greetings from across the pond,
Sin? Never met a Christian without any! Including me, in Jesus's time the local town folk had a quaint way of dealing with sinners. They stoned them to death. In John Ch.8 Jesus came face to face with a crowd of people getting ready to stone a woman for adultery. His response..."Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone!" The crowd dispersed. But what really drove me to respond to your posting was your quest to find God. That's a really terrific beginning Major. Sadly millions of people will live out their entire lives without knowing Him as you will. Do you know God already knows you? He's gone so far as to literally number each hair on your head! (Luke Chapter 12 verse 7) also referred as Lu 12:7. Can I ask you a Question...please? Did you ever wonder to yourself why you were born and what your true purpose in life is? I did. I really think everyone does....sooner or later. Before I made a decision to have a real and meaningful personal relationship with God...I spent a big portion of my life trying (on my own) to figure out where I was going in life, I'm 51 now. And all I can tell you is I'm living a dream life compared to what it was like before I allowed Jesus in my heart. He had a wonderful life already planned out for me...before I was even born. God cannot lie. In the book of John Chapter 10 verse 10 He tells us "That I came that they (meaning you and me Major) might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Abundantly....wow! Sometimes when a word in Scripture really jumps out at me I'll look up the meaning in my dictionary. Wanna' here what the definition of abundantly is. Good! It means: in plentiful supply; more than sufficient; abounding with. Fullness to overflowing. That's what God wants for your life too Major......that's the real reason you were born, it's just that simple. God is in love with YOU, Major, and He has a plan for your life. Looking for God? He is as close as a whisper. Do you think your sin will keep Him from you. If there was a single bit of truth to that, than every single person in the entire world would be lost with no hope of ever knowing God or the wonderful exciting adventure called Life He has planned for us. No Major, the truth is found in the book of Romans Chapter 3 verse 23..."For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." ALL!
God doesn't put sin in a measuring cup....to Him sin is sin, big or small we are all guilty. Guilty as.......well......sin. So now what? Well I have some really really good news for you, Major. God is loving and merciful! And He has provided for all of us a way out. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to earth to live as a man and experience all the same joys, disappointments, trials and temptations we all face here on earth in one way or another but much much more than that, Major. God allowed His beloved Son, Jesus Christ (who never sinned!) to take our punishment in our place and die a horrible and unspeakably painful death on the cross. But the greatest story ever told doesn't stop there. He raised Jesus from the dead...and He lives today! As real as you or I. And what He really wants more than anything...is for you to allow Him to live inside your heart. All you have to do is ask. It's just that easy. How can I possibly know this? Because God never lies and everything I just told you is plainly written out in His roadmap for our lives..The Bible.
So what now-you ask? Well that's up to you. You see God could easily just zap your brain and cause you to automatically accept Jesus into your heart-but than He would have only created a lifeless race of robots-merely puppets on His heavenly string. But no Major...God gave us all Free-Will. Free will, the ability to choose. Right from wrong, prideful or humble, selfish or unselfish...or as He puts it....Life or Death. For you it's decision time. Do you want to continue stumbling down life's path on your own or perhaps God may know something you don't......His truly amazing and wonderous plan for your life. This is the place for me to say to you without exaggeration or apology, Major, this is without question the single most important decision you will ever be faced with for the rest of your life! Take a leap of faith. You really don't need much. Jesus tells us in the book of Matthew Chapter 17 verse 20 "If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed-you can move mountains." Surely you have this portion Major, or you would not even be reading this now. The next step? In the book of Romans Chapter 10 verse 9 God provides the solution. "That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved."
I know first hand from being a Christian these many years that we can do nothing without God. So I want to take a moment and pray for you to our heavenly Father...."Dear Father...If it be your will...whenever Major reads this (and anyone else who seeks thee) please be merciful and open their hearts and minds and impart your heavenly grace that they may see...Thank You so very much..in Jesus name I pray. Amen."
I now believe Major, you have God's full attention and He's looking in your heart more than He is listening to your lips. In the book of Jeremiah Chapter 29 verse 13 He tells us.."Ye shall seek me and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
Let's stop for a moment. This is much much too important to rush through. Let's take a breath and recall what has already been metioned. We A-L-L have sinned. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Jesus has already paid the price for forgiveness from our sins. He was raised from the dead and now wants to live in your heart Major, as your Lord and Savior. If you are willing to put your trust in Jesus He will give you life and life more abundantly....but more, when you die (in fifty years or fifty minutes) you can be absolutely positive YOU ARE GOING TO HEAVEN and have eternal life.
Now Major, if you are truly willing to accept Jesus into your heart, He will come. If you are, than say this prayer... Dear Jesus, I want you to come into my life. I need your strength and guidance. I accept your forgiveness of my sins and help me Jesus to do your will. I believe you died for me and was raised from the dead. Though I do not deserve it, I accept your gift of eternal life. Help me to live the life you intend for me. Thank-You Jesus Amen.
If you really meant with all your heart what you just prayed than ALL your passed sins are forgiven and you ARE GOING TO HEAVEN. Praise God Thank-You Jesus! Welcome Sister into the Body of Christ....from this moment and forever you are a Christian and no matter what...God will never leave you or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5
Now beloved Sister, pray to your heavenly Father (God) to reveal His plan for your life. This is the Christian Walk. You will stumble at times but you can rest assured Jesus will never fail to help you back up. Pray not for "things" but for spiritual wisdom and always, always lean on Jesus for help. He will not fail you, nor forsake you or ever leave you.
Now in God's eyes you are a saint....seek other saints out. Here is how God now sees you...in the book of I Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." I know that I know that I know...slowly.... overtime you
are going to have questions. God is always prepared with the best answer.. ask Him for it....as often as needed. And my Sister if I can be of any help in some small way you can reach me by e-mail (even though I don't check it every day, I will respond) at trev20711@yahoo.com May God's Grace and Peace be with you always. With Love Ponderwilu

Hi major!

How are you? It is wonderful that you are trying to find God! He wants you to search for Him, and it is a blessing to you that you are doing just that.

From your title, you seem to be wondering whether you can be gay and Christian, correct?

Well, to become a Christian, you must confess to God that you have sinned and believe that His Son Jesus Christ came to earth to died for your sins, and God raised Him from the dead so that you might have eternal life. Christ Jesus is our savior from the penalty of sins (including sexual sins) and the control of sin.

Take a look at these scriptures:

1. All have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23)

2. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in [or through] Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)

3. 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
(John 3:16-17)

4. That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
(Romans 10:9)

Major, bisexuality and other sexual struggles are sin. And sometimes, you might feel powerless to overcome them. But once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, he not only forgives you your sins and gives you eternal life, but He also gives you a brand NEW nature! The Spirit nature!

Just as, in your natural sinful nature you desire to sin, with the new Spirit nature you desire to please God! You still have your sinful nature, but you can now choose which nature you will serve.

Here are the scriptures:

1. Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind of sinful man[5] is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;

Romans 8:5-6

2. So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16-24

There will be times as a Christian though that you will get weak and fall into sin. The devil still tempts, but we are told to resist Him. However, if you do fall, God wants us to confess it to Him, and as a loving Father to His child, he will forgive us and cleanse us again to be pure.

Here are the scriptures:

1. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

2. 14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.
16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Hebrews 4:14-16

Major, you're off to a great start! You've already decided to seek the Lord, now I'll tell you like a friend told me: keep going!!! God's got great plans for you! Read the scriptures listed and if I can ever be of help to you or to anyone else reading this posting, feel free to message me:)

May God bless you!

eh....ok HI

God loves us despite all our sins.

First, if you accept there is a God, and that he sent his son to die for you and everybody else, and he was ressurected........then you have your first steps.

Second, have you prayed him into your life? that you have told him you have accepted him?

third, tell him about your problems, ask him to do sort out what is wrong in your life (im at this step - im living with a guy and im not married!), and if it is, that he change it!

If you have any doubt about the fact you are bisexual - that there may be something wrong with it, when you are talking to God, then being bisexual is not the way for you. If you feel he hasnt changed anything (this can take a long time), then Nothing seems to be wrong. But dont mess others around, just look for a partner to settle down with.

My personal feelings on homosexuality are that it is wrong, but God loves us all regardless of how we are, God loves homosexuals and heterosexuals just the same, but i feel that is nothing to do with me and if you have accepted God then welcome to the family, bit of a messed up family, but like all messed up families we love each other deep down.

If you havent found God and are still looking for him, remember - he will accept you and love you no matter who you are. God knows who you are deep down, and nobody else does, he made you and will accept you into his family if you will only ask and talk to him, sometimes when you pray, you feel like you are talking to a wall, but he does listen. Be patient and he will answer.

God bless. ^_^

(ps read the gospels and look at Jesus's words - best place to start)

We do not have to agree on everything to be brothers and sisters in Christ. We just need to "repent and believe the Gospel". That Gospel, that good news, is that Christ has reconciled us to God.

Well, one of the most basic doctrines of Christianity is that the Bible is the word of God. So, anything added to it is man's idea-man cannot invent sin. For example, eating meat the first week of lent. That is not a biblical concept, and neither is the season of lent. If someone wishes to observe it because it reallly does bring them closer to God in some way, that's up to them. But for them to believe it is a sin is wrong, because God did not institute the practice. So, by the standard of man's doctrines, even the doctrine of Christ as Lord has to come from somewhere, and the question is, who said it. Since God did, that's what makes it the truth. ;)

But the Bible says so much more about faith than believing Jesus is the Son of God. If we truly believe it, then we repent of our sins, and that's why it's so important to get a comprehensive understanding of the whole Bible-so we know what constitutes sin. Nad homosexuality is something that definitely needs to be resolved and removed.

Major, we're happy to support you in your endeavors to find the Lord. We know the causes of the predicament may be complicated, but the solutions are simple. It begins by fully giving your life to the Lord, receiving His Lordship and you will have Him as a Savior as well. Then, read a good translation of the Bible to find out more and more of what that means.

Many blessings to you.

Major... I know a lot of posters to this thread are going to focus on your sexual orientation, but I personally believe that as long as that doesn't cause you to sin, it won't matter. Say, if you truly loved someone, whether with a male or female, and you had a healthy relationship with them, it wouldn't be sin. Keep in mind that homosexuality in the Bible actually translates to "sodomy" which is specifically male homosexuality. All in all, in the translation, it actually doesn't say a thing about female homosexuality!

Point is, God loves you, unconditionally, and without a doubt, no matter what. Seek him, because he knows when you're looking for him, and he will make himself appear to you in a way that you can see. He works in mysterious ways, remember? (sometimes REALLY mysterious).

BTW, if you ever want to chat with someone, pm me at wand3ring_palad1n@yahoo.com
