Greed is a massive problem at hand yet it is not being emphasized so your statement makes no sense. No way in any kind of reality is homosexuality as big a problem as greed. So why the obsession with homosexuality. The reason is simple. it is a sin people can easily avoid so they feel good about themselves for speaking against it but don't have to confront the sin in their own lives.
A Christian speaks out about sin, because they have confronted sin in their lives. They have come to Jesus in repentance and He has removed the log from their eye, so they can address sin (Matt 7:5).
Homosexuality is one of the pinnacles where greed (a form of idolatry Eph 5:5) asserts itself into denying the very creation of God. It is a major issue of our time. Look back a few years. Homosexuality has always been preached against, but when did it become a major focus? When homosexuality tried to assert itself as an alternative way of living. Just like the letters in th NT show what they were pushing against, so to do our times determine what we emphasize.
But keeping to your beliefs, for the sake of argument, on what is beeing preached... do you wish to have homosexuality preached just as much as against greed? Or do you wish to have greed preached against as much as homosexuality?
except you are only imagining that. i have not said that. What I am calling for is for the church in general to be more consistant.
If that is the case you wouldn't mind preaching against homosexuality at all. But rather pointing to the rest of sins preached against to be racheted up.
Which would be odd considering you thought homosexual marriage was not a big deal.... or were you in fact engaging in a fallacy?
So either way in your view, you do proclaim gay marriage as wrong and sinful, correct? As well as voicing your opinion as no against it for society, correct?
Or at least that is what your argument is claiming now.
Fallacy or gay marriage is wrong and should be spoken out against?
Sorry if I don't sound overjoyed that you have heard a sermon. it misses what I said. The church in general makes plenty of public statements and press releases against homosexuality. yet when talking about greed they keep it strictly in the church and lets face it most people in the church are believers. Why not keep the homosexuality talk in the church as well. Why do we give special attention to that.
My church doesn't make any public statements. The people coming from the church make their opinions known through their everyday lives. We are to live our lives by faith in Jesus (gal 2:20).
And once again. Do you think both should be proclaimed as wrong? If you do, then you would say amen! to the proclaiming of homosexuality as wrong, but you would also say let's also preach against greed in the same manner. And as pointed out already, they come from the same root.
Once again I don't vote for or against any law. i have already agreed with choosing who you vote for wisely. Thats why I didn't vote for Howard after all his lies yet so many christians did sadly. Same as many christians didn't vote for John Hewson even though he was actually honest about what he would do and his opponent just rubbished him rather than releasing policies. Yet peolple still voted for Keating. Guess christians in general don't value honesty and integrity as much as I do.
Let's use the term "uphold" then. Do you uphold laws against homosexuality? Do you think they are good for society? Are you active in saying homosexuality is good for society or active in saying it is bad.
Does your light fight against darkness or does darkness stay the same when it is around your light?
Taking out the word "law" should remove any obscuring, don't you think?
Except I never said it was exactly the same. i pointed out what the difference is. Your response did not respond to mine the first time round so I don'tthink it is reasonable that you demnad I respond to a bit of your post. Especially when we disagree on a basic principle that determines viewpoints.

it doesn't matter where his lust came from it is still lusting. So if lusting is wrong without question he sinned. if lusting is neither right or wrong then Jesus didn't sin. it really is that simple.
"I never said it was exactly the same" and "it doesn't matter where his lust came from it is still lusting".
Heh, the examples I gave showed you one can have lusting as both "lusting of the world" and "lusting of God". So yes my response did respond to yours as it showed your whole premise is false.
Jesus lusts in a Godly manner, just like Eve did before she looked at the world in a self centered way (not living by God's word). We lust in an ungodly self centered manner, based upon our desires which are not from God.
Desires which are Godly versus desires which are ungodly. Both can share the same terms (not limited to 'lust') and yet one is good and the other is evil.
X = any term such as lust, love, anger, etc...
X(From God)
X(From world)
The first is good, the second is evil. The determinative factor isn't X, but where it comes from... Everything is good or evil in relation to God, not by itself.
Pointing to X like you are doing doesn't say anything about good or evil, hence all my examples showing what does make a determination.
So yes please respond to the scriptures I posted before as they directly address your claim.
