The individual I am speaking of was specifically asked his opinion and then berated because he voiced it, it was not freely offered.
Your friend was set up and then assaulted. He had every right to be angry about that. When you ask someone for their honest opinion, it should come with the condition of immunity. That was a terrible thing to do.

I agree. I think he was chosen because he is not well educated (left school before 8th grade) and I believe the individual asking the question already knew his (he is a cousin of mine) thoughts anyway. I was quite pleased however with his response. He told me that he isn't really angry only upset that other homosexuals will be judged by the actions of that particular individual homosexual. I felt that was a pretty astute and charitable response.

Actually, no we don't - this is an international forum.

And is a country really worth dying (or indeed killing) for? It's just a bit of soil. There are far more important things in the world.

David.
You guys have a country that is worth dying for. In my opinion. The UK too, I see you're waving a Union Jack.

A price cannot be placed on freedom.

So what you're saying is that death is the ultimate freedom ...?

Go figure.

I don't think he is saying that at all, he's just saying our freedom is worth dying for. Having a country in which we are legally free to practice any religion, speak our minds, and have relationships with who we want, did not come cheap. It cost many lives to get us here, and will cost many more to keep it that way. All we can do is thank God for the people who served to give us these freedoms, and for those who continue to serve to keep it that way.

But don't let us kid ourselves that the current conflict in Afganistan and Iraq has anything to do with those freedoms. We also need to bear in mind that the enemy we blow to smithereens to 'protect our freedoms' comes at a cost to the inhabitants of those 'enemy' countries. It's all politics, greed, and self-glorification and the average patriot falls for the 'protecting our freedoms' line every time.

But, I digress from the main topic. Another thread I guess.

I wasn't referring to that, and yes its a total issue in itself.

same answer as above.

I'm not arguing your point, however I don't think that 'patriots' are duped into anything, really.

Yes, please. :)
