Rebelprophet, great post, very Christlike attitude to the issue.
As I said before, this has been an INTENSELY personal issue for me. I was put in a situation where I absolutely HAD to love the person and hate the sin or else I would have killed myself. I had to learn to separate the two. In doing that, God showed me the truth about homosexuality. It is destructive, virulent, consuming, and predatory. The spirit behind homosexuality is not content to trap just one or two people. Not at all. It
preys on those who have been hurt and abused, namely, the wounded and weak in life. What did Jesus say His mission was on Earth?
"18"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
(Luke 4, emphasis mine)
Homosexuality is one of the worst forms of oppression. I have seen it from very close proximity and I can vouch for that personally. That is the only reason I have such an attitude.
Also, last thing here, the girl who was seduced...God told me she was my wife long before this event and has persisted in His proclamation of that fact until this very minute. I wait for her as one who waits for the dawn. I know that she will come to me.
How much did God tolerate while we were yet in our sins? How much grace was given to us? How many of us were caught up in lying, cheating, aldultry, fornication, stealing, using drugs, drinking, etc. etc. The sins of a gay person requires no more of the blood of Jesus than it did to cleanse you or me. Christ died for the ungodly, period.
Do we think others will turn away from sin towards Christ with Bible thumping?
We can stand up for our rights and against ungodliness without a haughty spirit. The Holy Spirit convicts and draws a person to repentance.
The joy, peace and love in our lives should draw others to want to know Christ, too see something in us that they are missing. If they can't see the difference in us, then it is us that needs to change, Lord help us all.
Before this topic was posted yesterday, I went to Godtube and signed a petition against the "thought law". Which basically is a law that says Pastors can't speak from the pulpit about various topics, of which one is homosexuality. If this law is passed Pastors can be fined or arrested for teaching the truth. I stand by the word of God and do not bend it to suit myself or others; but the same grace I desire to receive, do I deny that it exist for others because I think their sins are greater than mine while I walked without God in my life?
We can pray for the lost no matter what is going on in their lives. When there is an opportunity to show kindness wouldn't that be a better wittness than shoving the word down there throats? We can unite legally to stop laws from passing, our personal wittness should be love since God is love. Can't we speak the truth in love? Are they not also created in the image of God? Are we not to be as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves?
Wow! You just said it girl!
That's the way to go!
