  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I don't plan on having children, but if I do...my brother and I are both bi so I think the chance of me having a gay or bi child would probably be greater than average.
I think it would be great as long as they are happy and kind and smart and healthy and everything else a parent hopes their child would be.

I would not love my son any less. I would hurt for him, in the same way that any parent would when they have a child that has the potential to be a target of bigots and bullies, but I would never shun him or turn my back on him. I would only want for his happiness.

Besides, my son is only four and he already exhibits signs that are slightly on the effeminate side. Who knows? Maybe he is gay and we don't know yet.

Yes I would accept the child for who s/he is and love him/her the same.

I'd love the child just the same as if they were heterosexual. If I heard stories of people being mean to them over their sexuality, it would break my heart that anyone would judge my child without getting to know them and treat them unfairly for it. Just as it would break my heart for any other reason my child would get picked on. Who they are attracted to does not change who they are as an individual.

I would love my kids regardless. Our kids grow up and they are responsible for their own lives. I would just keep doing what I do now, encourage them to seek God, Believe in Jesus and just do your best in life. Grace is hugemungous!

cheers ;)

It wouldn't bother me; there's no reason that it should. If my kid was harassed at school or in any other context for being gay, I'd try to help him (or her) to deal with it, just as if s/he was being harassed for any other reason.

I would embrace my child. Just as God our Heavenly Father Embraces us. We don't always do what Our Heavenly Father wants us to do, yet God still Loves us Unconditionally. God expects nothing less from US!

so the answer is "LOVE THE CHILD"

Especially if they were on the young side, I would wonder if I had somehow given them the impression that it was "better" to be gay, or that I expected him/her to be so, because I am. I would want my child to be happy. If they are trying to fake something, or convince themselves of something they are not, then they won't be happy. If they do turn out to be actually gay, I'd be fine and dandy with it.

I'd go out and buy him his first set of pumps, or a flannel shirt if it was my daughter.

Just kidding.

Really, I'd probably just say "That's nice. Now go do your homework." I just wouldn't make that big deal about it, I would hope that my child would know that his or her sexuality does not matter to me.
