  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My husband and I make garlic soup on chilly days. You have to love a recipe that starts out, "Take a whole head of garlic..."

We got the recipe from Emeril, here: Garlic Soup with Eggs. We reduced the cayenne to 1/4 tsp, though, since 1/2 tsp was just too hot.

Yum.

I take the following ....

1 small zuchinni - sliced thin
1 small onion - sliced thin
8 small baby carrots - sliced into coins thin
3 small stalks of celery - chopped thin
1 TBLSP. minced garlic

Place about 3 tsp. of oil into a large pan & then make sure the pan or wok if you choose to use. Make sure that then pan is hot & then place your GARLIC
& ONION in first & once it's cooked till tender then stir fry the rest of the ingredients & cook till tender. You can stir fry other veggies ... broccolic, celery or whatever. Then serve hot & it's really good as a side dish !!

Enjoy !!

The garlic soup looks good - I plan to try it tonight.

One way we enjoy garlic is in creamy potatoes...........This is a recipe that you can easily adjust according to taste and quantity required.

Peel and boil a few potatoes (I use about 12 large) until just tender (not mushy). Cute into cubes and put into a greased ovenproof dish.

Take a whole head (about 2 - 15 cloves) of garlic put into a blender with 1 - 2 cups cream (just play with the quantity of liquid - you can use 50/50 milk if you don't like too much cream). Blend until cloves are all crushed up, add salt and pepper to taste. Pour over potatoes, top with bread crumbs & grated cheese and bake for about 30 - 40 minutes in medium to hot oven. The potatoes will absorb most of the liquid leaving a little creamy, garlicy sauce - this is so easy and soooooo delicious, it's a winner every time.

i add garlic to everything that isnt a dessert or breakfast food.. (dont want to start the day off with garlic breath)

i mainly use garlic to ward off vampires (mosquitos)... since theres swarms of them down here...

though i need some opinions...whats the difference between garlic powder, garlic salt, minced/diced garlic, and cloved?

aside from garlic powder and garlic salt are dried and in powder form

mmm... garlic...

I use it in everything.

In response to the question of what form, I root for fresh garlic all the way. Powder is acceptable for some purposes (I use it for quiche) but it really loses potency, as well as health benefits.

I like to take minced fresh garlic, minced fresh ginger, and saute some snow peas with it in a little sesame or peanut oil. yummy yummy.

also, I add garlic to store-bought pasta sauce, because there isn't enough garlic in it unless it's absolutely offensive. =)

I don't think I can handle plain parsley. It's a bit bitter for my liking. I do like small bits and pieces in certain things, but not just parsley.

what about celery leaves?

I think Garlic is rather nice... Just be sure to eat some Parsley afterwards... Though that still leaves a mark.

(I almost ate a small clove section before. Spicy, but goood.)

didn't it like almost burn yer gizzards out? I bit into a piece of a garlic clove once and boy oh boy did it burn
