Not really ironic. Despite the image of TEs among creationists of various stripes, we really do respect what scripture actually says. We do not "dismiss" "ignore" "set aside" or "not believe" scripture.

I'm going to reiterate this saying that I think most of us really do think we have a more accurate interpretation of Scripture, and understanding of the intent of Scripture as a whole than our YEC brothers and sisters. If evolution disappeared, tomorrow (if such were possible), I, for one, would still think that Genesis was a myth, and that it was never intended otherwise.
