you draw the line where you feel its necessary

no line for the mass public should be drawn, becuase thats just silly

you cant make sin for everyone because not everyone thinks the same things are sins...

like me, i personally dont see anything wrong with violent games

for another person they are completely wrong etc...

so heres the line... if its questionable... dont do it

Can I be "spiritual" for a second.

I would ask the question "Why did Jesus tell the rich young ruler to sell all that he had?" Did he not like the man, or was it that He could see that the only thing the ruler would put before God in his personal relationship was riches.

It was a challenge. Is all that you have more important than your relationship with God?

In essence, "What is 'God' in your life"

I have been thinking about gaming of late and it could be that all you play is tetris, but for no reason, God, through his spirit will challenge your gaming habbits!

Because of the content of the game? I think not! But He may be asking "Is that more important than spending time with me?"

When you get to know a person, any person, you get to know what they like and what they dont. The same is true of God.

I don't think we can just say "THAT GAME IS WRONG" or "THAT GAME IS EVEIL" unless we have facts to back it up (like the game is full of the occult and the developers involved are open about thier satanic worship and thier wish to enslave young minds) but what we can do is make sure our releationship with GOD is more important to us than gaming. If we get to know Him, He will let us know what He likes and what He doesnt, and because we have drawn close to Him, we wont have a problem with what He says.

Remember, we are just messengers. God is the judge. Let Him do His job! ;)

Sorry, seprate from my post above, can I just ask NeoBlack (not picking on you, please read this the right way :) ) for clarification into the meaning of "you cant make sin for everyone because not everyone thinks the same things are sins..."

In my understanding, God decides what is Sin and what isn't. It would be a dangerouse world if it were up to the individual to decide.

hang on... it IS a dangerouse world..... hmm 2+2 makes what again?

Dude,

Read my post further up the page called "Do you put it before God?"

I dont think there is a clear cut "line" that WE can define. The answer is simply, listen to God. If you know Him, He will let you know what upsets Him and what doesn't, and He will only challange you in this way when He knows you are ready for it.

Us pointing the big judgemental fingure at each other and saying "Thou shalt not play DooM3" is a classic case of us playing God and doing more harm than good.

We are not to judge, God is.

Like I said, read my post above. It's not just about the content, but about what comes 1st in your life, God or gaming?

I agree. Just read my post in the Diablo 2 subject and you will see what can happen. Forbidding a person from doing stuff will make them want to do it even more. In my Christian high school, it wasn't until they banned Pokemon, that it got really popular. People are naturally attracted to forbidden things. Look up "Pandora's Box." I have been out of school for 3 years, and I went back to the school just to see how much it changed. They learned though, and haven't yet banned Yugioh cards, especially how popular it is. Popularity of Yugioh in the school has actually gone down a bit amazingly.

Use your personal convictions.

There are things that are obviously sin. That's what God's Law makes us concious of.

I'm not saying that killing someone literally is not a sin just because you think it's not, i'm saying that you draw the line according to God's convictions to you.

If i were a christian idealist (which is impossible) i'd say don't play games at all, don't have fun, read the bible 24/7 and never drink anything but water.

If you play games, then you make sure you strictly have fun and enjoy it but don't get lost in that fun that you forget about God and end up being influenced by it.

EG: GTA3 is a high contender of accusations to street violence.

Let's all hug :)

(kidding)

GTA conender. Lol, I saw a news report (australia) in which a joy rider said he "practised" his crime spree in the game GTA.

I thought, "was a stupid excuse to give in court." I don't remember any version of GTA mapping exact street locations for Perth Suburbs, or any other.

It doesn't even teach you how to steal a car.

I confess, I knew how to drive a car before my first lesson from playing "Hard Drivin" in the arcades as it was the only game with a clutch pedal.

I am confident I could land a light aircraft due to my interest in aviation and flight sims, and I am soon studying for my PPL.

I could point a gun and shoot a target thanks to games like Time Crisis,
but has this all turned me into a criminal/killer/bad driver/terrorist?

I think not. I sit quietly and work from home running my own Multimedia company.

I even listen to heavy metal but as yet, I havent killed myself.
Hmm must be strong willed I guess ;)

The rich young ruler illustrates what the rich young ruler needed to do in his life.
To another person Jesus may have said, "You need to give up fishing."
So gaming depends on the individual.
I hardly play games although I love to do so. If I neglected more important parts of my life because all I did was play games, then I'm pretty sure God would have an issue with me.
What are the idols in our lives?
That is the question.
