i dont know about halo 2...
if forza motorsport revises its graphics, then i think they are in with a chance. at the moment i think gran turismo 4 will be up there at the top. this is my opinion based on what i have seen from the games. also half life 2 has a very good chance.

and like kokopelli i think PIRATES! might be in with a chance from what ive heard about it. it will be very interesting to see what comes out on top. it will be very close this year i think.

i would have to say Halo 2. Due to the fact it hasn't been delayed for 2 years. I would say HL2 but who knows when valve will ever release it. They are just being mean to us, they let a few ppl download Counter Strike: Source, just to get a little taste and such. While they get to play HL2 at Valve HQ, evil programmers!

Well we really can only consider FPS games, since historically they really don't grace non-FPS games with game of the year. Also they tend to endorse games that are very good versions of a mainstream genre rather then truly innovative.

Basically it's a battle between HL 2 and Halo 2. Blizzard is out of the running thanks to them simply not awarding the prize to RPGs (muchless MMORPGs).

What about KOTOR, pheonix. ;)

But MMORPG's are hard to award prizes to because there so repetitive. If they could create somthing that was more exciting, or offered more depth and things to do other than clicking on creatures I'm sure they could get GOTY. Untill then, they won't.

It is also why the FPS market has evolved into dishing out the same flavored garbage with a different name and packaged in a new box.
