You know that there are actually many verses in Scripture speaking of the pastoral office using the words "elder, overseer, bishop, deacon, etc." and that these all refer to the position and responsibility of the Pastor?

If pastor, bishop, overseer, deacon and elder are all used interchangably to mean the same thing, why is the bishop in authority over the pastor who is in authority over the elders and deacons today? Could it be that these were actually different functions that were shared by all of God's people and not a position of authority held by first class Christians who are supposed to do everything while all the rest of us second class Christians listen passively and give the first class Christians (the pastors) all our money?

Would you believe that I never intended to start a debate, but that I won't remain silent while someone implies that he's a better Christian than I am just because he has a title?

When and where did I ever imply that I was better than anyone else?

Would it surprise you if I told you that my problem isn't with pastors, but with the position of "Pastor", which is indeed completely unbiblical?

Have you ever read these passages that speak directly of the office of the pastoral ministry?

Luke 10:16; Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1-2; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; Eph: 4:11, 14; Col. 4:17; 1 Cor. 4:1; 1 Cor. 14:40; 2 Cor. 2:17

You mean like this one?

"He who listens to [DaRev] listens to [Christ]; he who rejects [DaRev] rejects [Christ]; but he who rejects [Christ] rejects [the Father.]" (Luke 10:16)

Sounds kinda arrogant when you put names instead of pronouns, doesn't it? I'm not listening to more of this BS. You are not Christ. You are not his special representative more than any other Christian. You are not in a position of authority over the rest of God's people simpy by virtue of your title. You are however blocked.

Anyone care to start on a different subject?

Would you believe me if I said I am going to pray for you, Theo?

I would, and I always apreciate prayer. But, to add a question in keeping with this game (although I wish we could change the subject) are you praying for me because I dared to question a pastors authority?

Why would you think that I believe in any pastoral authority other than a call from the Holy Spirit to shepherd or that anyone here ever implied such a thing?

Might you believe instead that I am worried about you?
