• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

By all accounts I'm a fairly intelligent person and I understand that it is impossible to win gambling yet I have squandered many years, resources, and relationships chasing it. By my own will power I have been unable to resolve these issues and I'm turning it over to God.
This is Day 1 and hopefully regardless of setbacks I try to keep my focus on God and allowing him to control my life.
Gambling in itself is pure vice and evil and therefore I should not expect for God to 'bless' me to be lucky, or that I am special and will prosper at such a vile thing.
Well, this was step one. A public proclamation that I need the Lord's help and that I am asking for it.

Yes, it is important to think of betting as gambling and offensive behavior before God. Some such people look at it as like playing the Stock Market, but it is even worse and a sure losing thing.

Besides not trusting God for gains in life, and gambling to try to win money, the Gambler is actually wasting God's resources He has provided, and robbing the family of benefits. If one looks at this as self-centered fun at the expense of God and others, one can be helped to overcome it.

Satan works on the flesh to indulge self always, and one needs to cry to the Lord to help one stop offending God and family.
