In another thread, Papias wrote:
I could see this {an origin story that includes God and is also scientically supported} finding a place in many sunday schools at churches where reality is not denied.

to which I've been replied:
That is unsettling to me.

Is the foundation of the body of Christ not the prophets and the apostles with Christ himself as the chief cornerstone? Is it not written: "Let God be true and every man a liar?"

It seems to me that Galileo was a man.

Is anyone here going to the "Galileo Was Wrong" symposium in support of biblical geocentrism this November?

Galileo Was Wrong

Apparently, not only does the Bible teach geocentrism, but True Science (TM) supports geocentrism, too.
Meh. What they need are flat earthers protesting outside that that have compromised with the world.

Wow, it appears that there is no limit to what one will do to defend absolute biblical literalism! In someways I am interested to learn how they have deluded themselves into believing that the Earth is the center of the universe.

Thanks for the link.

It is obvious that geocentrism has a new life now. It is exciting.

For example, how does one prove that the earth is not located at the center of the universe?

Is the Earth not the center of the world? I thought the two were synonymous. Perhaps my understanding of the word "world" is mistaken.

^_^ Yes, I should have re read what I wrote before posting. No, the Earth is not the center of the universe.

Chapter and verse plz.
The geocentrists will cite you Scripture all day. According to the Bible, the earth does not move because it is set on foundations (1 Chronicles 16:30, Psalms 93:1, Psalms 96:10,2 Samuel 22:16, Psalms 18:15, Psalms 102:25, Proverbs 8:27-29, Isaiah 48:13, John 17:24). On the other hand, the heavenly bodies are described as moving about the earth (Joshua 10:12-13, Habakkuk 3:11, Psalms 19:4-6, Ecclesiastes 1:5). The picture is pretty clear: the earth is still and the heavens rotate about it. That's geocentrism. Heliocentrists wickedly deny the Bible by interpreting these verses metaphorically or by using an accommodationist hermeneutic. They subscribe to an atheist philosophy. Their faith is not as strong as that of the geocentrists.

Thought so. And your verses have been interpreted and refuted (just in case, the interpretation does not belong to you). In addition to that, you still havent gotten over the fact that Geocentricism was a scientific theory held by all scientists of the day, not just those in the church. It was challenged and refuted by scientific evidence showing that the scientific theory was wrong. Compare that to the widely held Darwinism, challenged by evidence showing that bacteria cannot turn into men. Clinging to 19th Century speculations, ignoring 21st Century testing and new scientific knowledge.

That makes no difference to geocentrists because they don't recognize that they are, in fact, interpreting the Bible by simply reading it literally. They see anything other than reading the Bible literally as compromise. That rings a bell...

Geocentrism stemmed from reading the Bible literally, not from anything science ever demonstrated.

It was challenged and refuted by scientific evidence showing that the scientific theory was wrong.
But that "scientific" evidence is rejected by geocentrists because it doesn't accord with what the Bible teaches about the movement of the earth and heavenly bodies. According to them, science must be interpreted in light of the Bible, not the other way around. That also rings a bell...

Aww. The Assyrian approach. He must be so proud. Everything you just stated was just addressed. Do we begin repeating ourselves now? I'll begin. Darwinism acknowledges only 19th Century revelations. That organisms can adapt. 21st Century observations confirm that DNA is coded with an adaptation mechanism. That random mutations destroys life. Scientific evidence challenging an old theory, and is being rejected. Sound familiar?

Yeah. Sounds like this:
Galileo Was Wrong
Specifically, it sounds like this:
"Come with an open mind and allow these two authors to show you facts and figures that have been hidden from the public for a very long time." Conspiracy theories.
Are you going to the conference?
