Dear IbanezUser

To start with you must have accepted the LORD and Made a COMMITMENT of your WHOLE life to GOD and GOD'S WILL. Then from that moment on seek GOD in every decision. Then GOD will ANOINT you with the HOLY SPIRIT.

When this happens you are told to keep waking up GOD'S PATH and stay away from lust.

FOR THEN YOU SHALL BE WALKING IN THE SPIRIT and will then be abel to deny yourself the lust of the flesh.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then acting ( COMMITING ) upon that which you have accepted.

As a Christian we want to do what is good in God's eyes, not to earn anything by it as our reward was earned for us at the cross. Walking in the Spirit is to remain in true faith, believing that your sins have been forgiven and knowing God's Word concerning what is pleasing and unpleasing to Him. Wanting to do what is right because of the forgiveness won is completely different than living by the Law (because living by the Law you want to please God with your actions to earn something).

If you fall and do what is unpleasing, God won't turn His back on you, He forgives you.

Actually, walking in the Spirit has a little more to it than faith. It's all about relationship. The Holy Spirit is a person, fully God and part of the Trinity. When one becomes a believer the Holy Spirit of God then lives inside of them. What we know as being baptised in the Holy Spirit is an activation, or releasing of control in our lives to allow Holy Spirit to work and move in us.

Walking in the Holy Spirit is having a constant or near constant relationship with God through Holy Spirit. It is consciously (a decision) allowing God access to your life in every area. It's relational in that prayer becomes nearly unconscious at times. It is something that "striving" for can't attain. The only way to achieve it is in releasing control and allowing Holy Spirit more and more access to your every day life.

Walking in Holy Spirit is not something that comes as a "suddenly". It comes over time and is increasingly deeper as you mature as a Spirit-filled Christian.

God Bless

If we concentrate on the relationship HE first has with us, the relationship side that WE have with Him will come along. Focusing on us and what we do takes away from the cross, I think. I would more recommend to keep focusing on Christ and the cross and trust that He will build us up into what He wants us to become :)

I went back to read the scripture you quoted. That is a good passage, especially if you read the whole thing. I quote Galatians 5:22-23 a lot because it shows us the fruit of the Spirit.

I will give you a small synopsis of how it has shown itself in my life.

Just today I was considering if I wanted to do this job for a friend of mine. Pondering within myself if I actually had to do it because it was asked of me (which scriptures tell us we should). But my own flesh didnt really want to do it. Well she came to my door today and asked me how much I would want for doing it. And what my own will wanted wasnt even a thought in my head. I was agreeing to do this for her, at whatever she wanted to pay me.

Which was totally opposite of what was just going thru my noggin earlier, lol. So the Spirit within me was directing me how I should be. And without realizing it, I was submitting to the authority of God, thru his Holy Spirit.

This is explained by Paul in the Galatians you are looking at. When the Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

This is walking with the Holy Spirit. (Not following our sinful desires, but following what the Spirit of our Lord has for our lives).

The gospel of John speaks of this Holy Spirit: When the Spirit of Truth comes he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he recieves from me. All that the Father has is mine; this is what I mean when I say that the Spirit will reveal to you whatever he recieves from me.

Jesus said this: My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father- that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me. I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are- I in them and you in me, all being perfected into one.

So walking in the Spirit of our Lord, is us being one with him. Denying ourselves, and following him (and his will).

Living our lives everyday, with the Holy Spirit of our Lord revealing to us the way of truth; and guiding us on the path of righteousness for his names sake.

God Bless

You are given the spirit which cries "Abba, father!" - a spirit which calls God daddy.

See God as your daddy, your father. Don't walk like they had to walk under the old covenant, making offerings and cleansing themselves before going into the holy of holies. Be the child of God that you are. Talk to him like the father he is. Rejoice in the freedom you have.

Dear Holo

" You are given the spirit " ???

It would ONLY be correct to say:

" you can be ANOINTED by GOD with the HOLY SPIRIT "

Galation 5:16 say's This I say then, Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

This is the part I don't understand, About walking in the spirit how do you walk in the spirit.

Please help me out here.
Christ commands His followers to walk in the light. Walking means moving onward, exercising our God given abilities, being actively engaged. Unless we exercise ourselves in the good work to which our Saviour has called us we shall have a sickly, stunted religion.

We gain new victories by our experience in "walking". We gain strength by walking in the light, that we may have energy to "run" the race. As in the natural, walking is exercise. Our graces are matured and developed by spritual exercise ie (walking in the Spirit).

Walking in the Spirit is obeying His promptings, not floating along with the popular current.. The power of God comes thru walking in the Spirit. In this union there is strength, the work is one, superintended by one Leader.

The more time you spend with God, the closer to Christ you will be. The closer you are to Christ, the more you will be like Him. The more like Christ you are the less you will want to satisfy fleshly desires but will want to do God's will.
