  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you folks seen the commercial where the two old ladies are on some kind of road trip in a convertible? And the one doing the voiceover says "When we were on the road, there wasn't a bathroom for miles! That's why I'm glad I had my Depends!"

What??? :D So on those long stretches of deserted highway, they just "went" on themselves and "depended" on their depends? And they were happy about it? HUH??

Sorry...I just think that's too funny.

What funny commercials have you seen lately?

The bud light "real men of genius" and "real american hero" commercials were some of the most funny and original ads I've seen/heard.

"Today we salute you, mr. inflatable pink gorilla maker man!"
the real men of genius ads always crack me up too.

I about fell over my chair the first time I saw this ad. For those of you not familiar with "Leon" (a ficticious pro athlete) ads, here is a snippet from one of the ads in the series:

"Leon, what do you have to say about the game?" a reporter asks Leon in the locker room after his teams loss.

Leon responds, “This is a team game, and I have to put the loss squarely on the shoulders of my supporting cast.” The reporter then asks, “Sooo, You don’t think those four fumbles played a part in the loss?”

Leon responds, “Not if one of those guys fell on the ball, once again, Leon can’t do everything.”

It's funny but at the same time it's sad. Funny because such brash conceitedness and irresponsibilty has rarely been withnessed. Its also funny cos there is a ring of truth to it in today's athlete (which makes it sad).

I just saw the best one during football yesterday where the referee comes in and blows the whistle in real life situations- the one with the son and his dad in the fishing boat was pretty good- "Unoriginal tattoo in the form of a tribal armband! Inheritance- denied!"

Or the one where the guy is on a date with a woman and the referee comes in- "Noticeable uni-brow- automatic denial of second date!"

But my favorite is the one with the guy and his date at the beach and once again, the ref blows the play dead- "Misproportionately HOT girlfriend- will require further review by me! <sits down next to her on the beach blanket> Hey there! Wanna blow my whistle?"

Football season...good times. :D

The "real men of genius" radio commercials are great (dunno if they have 'em on TV, don't watch it that much).

For some reason the Viagra commerical with all the guy running around to "we are the champions" cracks me up. Yeah, I'm wierd.
