  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was wondering what everyone favorite funny commercial was. Go into great detail, laughter is the best medicine!

I saw one the other day while watching Punk'd on MTV (a rare occasion), and it started out as a nice three generation family sitting down to what looks like a thanksgiving-type dinner. They pass around the food and start talking, the grandfather then started choking, and places his hand over his heart, and stumbles to the floor, gasping for breath. The grandmother goes down next to him and is trying to comfort him, she tells her son (an adult) to call 911. At this point the grandchildren and their parents are all but hysterical. For no apparent reason the grandfather starts laughing, and sits up and says: "Oh, I punk'd you, hahaha, I punk'd you, you should have seen the looks on your faces. Hahaha." Just then in the background you hear the son say "Sorry, nevermind" as he hangs up the phone, and then it has some advertisement for the show Punk'd.

It was one of the funniest commercials that I have ever seen, so how about some stories on your favorites?

I haven’t seen it in years but:

An elderly couple is sitting at a kitchen table, the man is loudly slurping soup and the woman is staring at him. She sighs and says “The romance is gone. The second the lights go out you go to sleep.” At which point the light bulb in the fixture above the table goes out and the screen goes black. We hear an inhaled snore followed by a splash and then bubbles being blown. The announcer then asks: “Isn’t it time you changed your light bulbs?”

Has to be the classic Wendy's commercials, "Where's the Beef?"

My all-time favorite is the old Staples going-back-to-school commercial where the father is dancing up the aisle throwing school supplies in the cart...children trudging unhappily behind him. The music in the background plays, "The most wonderful time of the year".

Haha...you guys named some of the funniest! The Old Navy ones that are new...thank GOD they got new ads...are just SO hysterical! Have you seen the history one? Lol...truly classic! And those Quizno's rat-things...they are dear to my heart. I really like the new Burger King commercial that's out. Basically, a guy is sitting at his desk at his office eating a Burger King sandwitch which is supposedly fire-hot. Then, the sandwitch actually catches on fire in his hand, so he throws it onto his desk...and the desk lights on fire. So, the sprinklers go off in the entire office building...people are screaming and running everywhere, and here's this poor guy in his office with his desk on fire. A few people run into his office to see if they can help, and the guy turns around and yells, "Help!" What's hysterical is that now he's breathing fire...so he nearly torches the other people. He then yells out, "Sorry!!!" and yes, more fire...and then he screams out more fire...it's just so hysterical...so unexpected! His timing was so funny...I can't do it justice...what a shame.

In the same flavor..the one with the little girl looking absolutely furious as her father is grabbing school supplies. She comments, "I thought you said school was out forever." The dad turns around and it's Alice Cooper in make-up and he says, "No, the song is School is Out for Summer but nice try."

Funny funny.

The kitty food for hairballs by Meow-mix:

two men sitting at the studio mixing board~
man #1: "alright, let's take 63"
man #2: (rolls his eyes)
cut to a cat sitting on a high stool close to the microphone:
cat: "meow, meow, meow...COUGH COUGH"
cut to two men look exasperated, cut back to the cat:
cat: "meow, meow, meow, meow...COUGH COUGH COUGH!"
cut to the men looking even more annoyed
cut to the cat again
cat: "meow meow meow, meo--COUGHCOUGHCOUGH!"
cut to the men: "OK, CUT, that's a wrap!"
cut to a bag of Meow Mix Hairball Remedy Kitty food..with the same cat running to the bowl
cut to cat singing: "meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow!"

and one of an ad for a vacuum cleaner:
a beautiful black cat sits serenely on the stairs, and suddenly she sneezes and all her beautiful hair flew up in the air and slowly float down all over the place. then she turns her head and looks pitifully in the camera. ^_^

I dunno why, but the Burger King one where the dude is in bed and wakes up and this king is sitting next to him, in the bed, with this really big cheesy grin! I don't know what it is but everytime I see it I laugh hysterically!

I liked the recent burger king ones, about those people in the office.

My favorite is the one where they are passing out the sandwiches and one of the guys gets the same thing as the boss, he says: "Wow, we got the same thing, we got the same thing". The boss pays no attention and walks away, while the guys stands there and ponders the idea a little bit. Just then one of the other guys, while holding the burger king bag, says to him: "Hey there's a couple of buns left in here, you wanna kiss em?"

That one was really hilarious!

I also like those Starbucks doubleshot ones.

"He knows one day he just might become....Supervisor" ( to the music of eye of the tiger)

I think it was a Burger King commercial where this guy ate the "new flame-broiled grilled" whatever burger. He's in his office, and he wipes his mouth, and the napkin catches fire. Then he's like, "Whoa! Whooa!" And everything he touches lights up. Then it's all smokey, and people are rushing in, like, "What's going on??" And he tries to say something, but flames come out of his mouth, and he's trying to cover them up and all. Really funny to watch.

Another one: the narrator is talking about how "Bob" is unhappy because of his insurance company or something like that. It shows Bob sitting on a park bench trying to read a newspaper, while a little girl and her mom sit on the other end. Her balloon is blowing in the wind and hitting him in the head constantly. He remains still until he takes a pin and non-chalantly pops the balloon without ceasing his reading! Then he apparently got his new insurance company whatnot, and the narrator's like, "Now, Bob's happy all the time!" Bob finds a ticket on his car and he's just happily laughing it off, and he sees the tires locked and he's like, "hahaha.. heeeyy [pointing to tires]! Hahahaha!" He's in a dentist's chair, and the dentist, with tools in Bob's mouth, looks away for a second, looks back, and says, "...whoops." Bob's like, "It's okay!" Again: he's at an office coffee break room. The counter has got the coffee machine on it, and he's bent down, looking for something in the cabient below it. A lady comes in and tries to reach past him, and she accidentally knocks the coffee machine and spills all the hot coffee all over him. He rushes up and says, "Whooaoooa! Guess I'm having tea!" Lastly: He's standing in a bowling alley with some people. He's standing behind the guy who is about to bowl, and he stretches his back (you know, by arching it, pushing the middle region forward) and looks over to the side. The bowler's hand slips, and the balls flies back smack-dab into Bob's groin. Bob lurches over and says, "Wha hooooo... ya got me!" as if it were some kind of prank. Hilarious, hilarious commercial. Might be my favorite.

The Dairy Queen one where the guy gets his tongue stuck in the cake beaters is hilarious.

My newest favorite has to be the insurance commercials. If you aren't offering your employees benefits.....The guy is giving the presentation and everyone is watching slides of him being a complete fool. It's great!

It's a Bud Light commercial and this man has gone off for the weekend and his friend is like, "Do you think your wife will notice?" "Ah, nah. I left a guy that looks just like me there." Then it cuts to his house and his wife's sitting there and this GORGEOUS, muscly man walks out. It's hilarious cus the hubby is kinda the opposite :D

And the Snickers one about the St. Louis 'Freds'.
